Sebastian and the Terracotta Warriors
Canadian International School of Hong Kong, Roberts, Sarah - 11
ebastian had just been through the most horrifying earthquake ever; it was 9.5 on the Richter
scale.
His entire office had collapsed since the epicentre was situated in the middle of the road
where his office was built.
Sebastian had jet black hair that was up to his ears.
He wore a collared black shirt with some
loose jeans.
He had shapes of Chinese dragons tattooed all over his back and names of different dynasties
etched on both his arms because he was interested in Chinese history ever since he was a young boy.
He
had ruddy red cheeks that were not close to the colour of the rest of his skin.
He had thick set eyebrows
and cerise colour lips.
His eyes were covered over by short and stubby eyelashes.
His right pupil was
green and his left pupil was blue in colour.
He was an unusual sight but what stood out most was the
color of his skin - it was a strong brownish red - it was the colour of terracotta.
Sebastian left the office since all of his co-workers had not yet awaken.
When he was walking
home to see if his house got damaged, he pulled out his Chinese book from his jeans pocket and started
reading about how the Great Wall of China was built.
He wasn’t watching where he was going and he
stepped into a hole… He fell and fell into a new dimension. He was swirling down so fast that going to
the new world felt like going on a rollercoaster.
Sebastian woke up and found himself lying beside the sea.
He was devastated because he did
not know where he was and because everything looked so strange.
The sky was a cerise colour; the
moon shone brightly and was a beautiful shade of coral; the stars were silvery and the sand was as smooth
as fine pieces of silk.
High up on the top of the steep hill, there was a grand palace that was surrounded
by some grey and dilapidated sheds, shacks and shanties. Sebastian was in deep pain, he was wearing a
heavy armor but he had been stabbed in the heart.
Some of the soldiers who were also wearing the same
thing came and helped him.
They explained to him that “We are all warriors and we must fight against
the Huns since they are a constant threat to us. While we fight the Huns, a wall is being built to stop
them from coming into Xi’an. We can’t let them pass the wall otherwise these barbarians will invade
China!”
Sebastian had been fighting against the vicious Huns for several years.
Everyone had bloody
scars and were as filthy as pigs that had been playing in the mud and never been washed.
Sebastian had
become very loyal to Emperor Qin Shi Huang after all these years.
Emperor Qin had provided his
personal doctor to nurse Sebastian back to good health when he was found lying helplessly on the
beach.
Although Sebastian had always persevered before he came to this underworld, he still persisted
even though he had lost one leg and one arm and his sword was broken.
Sebastian fought hard, worried
that he would let Emperor Qin down.
There were only ten Huns left but even fewer of them; they
finally persuaded some Hun soldiers to join their side and killed those that would not give up.
Sebastian
and the other warriors triumphantly told the Emperor of their victory.
Emperor Qin and the villagers
were overjoyed.
Not long after the war was over, Emperor Qin got pneumonia and passed away.
He wanted all
his soldiers to protect him in his afterlife. Sebastian felt honored and was proud that the villagers were
making replicas of him and the other warriors to accompany the Emperor’s burial.
Sebastian decided
that since he was old and weak, he would let the artists and craftsmen use him as the terracotta warrior
mould to make all the replica soldiers. Sebastian could now be with Emperor Qin even after his death.
Sebastian felt warm and happy as the craftsmen carried him into the moulding workshop and fired up the
terracotta kiln…
