The Weird Statues

ot so long after Joe, Sally, Mack and Cynthia found the Terracotta Warriors, they found a
new pit filled with broken statues underground. Joe, Sally Mack, and Cynthia are scientists
and they tried to put the statues together but it looked like a weird sculpture. They tried and
tried 8 or 9 times, but they could not make the warriors, because they put it together wrong. They tried
one last time. It looked like a warrior getting ready to shoot a crossbow, but no!, it could not be that,
because it looked like a person sitting on a chair. Why would Emperor Qin make a statue of someone in
a chair?
The scientists put out the display. People looked at it and wondered, “Why would the Emperor
put a statue sitting around his chamber.” Just like the scientists did.
The next day, they went and looked back in the pit for clues. They found another one with
someone sitting. They found this one was holding a bowl. Now was it holding a bowl or a cross bow?
Then they saw another sculpture holding food, except the packages were not open. But why were they
not open? They took a long time to research this one and then found out it was actually someone who
was at the grocery store! Then, they thought that Emperor Qin put the weird statues where he was
buried to remind him of the daily life when he was alive.
Since they knew about the weird statues, they thought, but were not sure, that the one that they
thought was sitting was actually going to the bathroom!!
Then they put them on display. The people were surprised to see the sculptures of people who
were going to the bathroom, eating food, and at the grocery store.
