Get in the mood for love, whether that be the romantic kind
or your love for poetry or family, writes
Angelina Draper
.
There’s an app for that
The Love Book
(Apple, Android)
A fantastic literature app for tweens, teens and
adults containing over 300 poems, love letters
and over 60 audio tracks read by well-known
artists including Helena Bonham Carter, Emma
Watson, Tom Hiddleston and Damian Lewis.
You can also record your own reading.
Family Locator
(Apple, Android)
Sometimes love is simply about knowing our
loved ones are in a safe place. This tracking
app allows you to set no-go zones for individual
family members, sending you an alert if they
enter the area.
Recorder by Tap Media
(Apple)
Although we take lots of photos and videos of
loved ones, we rarely record just their voices.
This app, reminiscent of a cassette recorder,
lets you record voice messages or children’s
chit chat without the distraction of being
filmed. Easy to share, sync and back-up.
My Heritage
(Apple, Android)
This family tree app helps to keep children
interested in distant family members. Add
pictures and information about each person to
see the tree come to life. And if you really get
into it, subscriptions are available to research
your heritage further.
Just Ask Lite
(Apple, Android)
1,000 questions designed to keep the
conversation going. Use it as a couple, a family
(though beware of certain categories) or
amongst friends. Great for long-term couples
as a way to stay curious about one another.
Love Quotes
(Apple Android)
In today’s visual world, sending a love quote
via text or email is just so plain. This app lets you
send your loved one a romantic quote with
a nice background image. Share via social
media or as a photo attachment.
Tom's Love Letters
(Apple, Android, Amazon, Windows)
A simple and cute app for little ones in which
cats Tom and Angela shower each other with
affection. Doesn’t do much, but it does have
lively music and lets users send e-valentines
with images of their favourite talking cats.
Agonyapp
(Apple, Android)
If Valentine’s day just reminds you of
relationship problems, this app lets you
discuss them with people around the world as
anonymously as you want. There's a topic for
everyone including parenting and LGBT and
you can offer, as well as ask for, advice.
Romantic Ideas 500!
(Apple)
Whether you have just entered a relationship or
have been in one for (what feels like) donkey’s
years, you might need a little romantic
inspiration. Flip through these advice cards and
save your favourites – or send them to someone
in need of a nudge!
Instant Poetry 2
(Apple)
This app allows children to compose their
own poems and set them against a range of
backgrounds or alternatively their own photos.
Ideal for young wordsmiths as words are
suggested as they go along.
