Playtimes November 2016 - page 6

welcome
N
ovember is the Mother & Baby Issue of Playtimes and it’s full of advice for
new parents
and parents-to-be.
For the mums, we have beauty advice from the wonderful Andrea Clark of the Mandarin Hair
Salon, Anna Treier of Sense of Touch and Dr Rebecca Lau of Central Health. We also have some
great styling tips
to help you update your wardrobe and make the most of your post-baby
shape. We’ve found some great baby bags to help make packing for those first outings easier and more stylish;
if your baby has yet to make their appearance, you can win one in our
giveaway on page 18.
And one
lucky reader can also win a Boori changing table which is
up for grabs on page 14.
Rachel Kenney speaks to parents of twins
to find out what it’s really like to have multiple
children. These experienced “multiple mums” offer readers useful tips, from medical insurance and giving birth,
to simply getting out of the house. In
Birds & Bees 2.0
we ask whether
IVF parents
(who often go on to
give birth to multiples) should be open with their children about how they were conceived.
Quite often a couple’s “first baby” is their pet. But what happens when an actual baby comes into the
picture? Advance planning will make for a much smoother transition, check out our
step-by-step guide
in
Entering the Animal House.
For those of you that are past the new baby phase, we begin our series on
learning Mandarin.
In
this first instalment, Rebecca Simpson explores the reasons for learning Mandarin and asks what it requires to
succeed.
While hunting for a photograph to accompany my letter, I realise how often I’m the one behind the camera
rather than in front of it (I’m sure the same is true for many of you), so I took a trip down memory land and found a
photograph from
when I was expecting our second child
(thank you Zzzoom for the great shoot!).
Until our next issue, which promises to be full of lots of Christmas cheer, happy reading,
Louise
