continues to grow more
popular with parents in Hong
Kong, who are drawn to
its inquiry-based curriculum as an
education for life. The practical aspects
of the IB philosophy also appeal to
parents who see their children acquiring
relevant knowledge about the world
today. A vibrant classroom buzzing with
questions, exploration and discovery is
also the hallmark of an IB environment,
all of which is in clear evidence at
Hamilton Hill International in North Point.
A Reggio Emilia approach to the design
of the school is also clear from the
colourful, holistic interior, and capping off
the school’s inspirational philosophies,
Montessori toys and activities are there
to be explored by students.
Combining the IB philosophy with
a strong drama and performance arts
programme, director Alexander Key is no
stranger to the world of theatre, having
grown up in youth theatre and later
appearing on TV and in movies. “We
really want to provide an environment in
which the children can relax, enjoy and
build skills for life. It’s my hope that we
can sow the seeds of creativity in our

students that will help them grow into
confident, inquisitive individuals ready
for an educational journey of wonder,”
explains Alex.
Hamilton Hill also strives to create
a ‘village school’ feeling, in which
parents have a role and part to play
in the shaping and community of
school life. Parents are encouraged to
help with activities in school and are
regularly invited to watch their children
in performances on stage. Often the
students will be wearing costumes that
have been crafted in class, or showing
parents their artwork in the displays
placed on the walls. A mutual sense of
pride between parent and child creates
an extremely comfortable classroom
environment.
"We feel our forward-thinking vision
of educating the next generation of
global citizens in both
an academic
and creative sense helps us to deliver
our promise to our parents to provide
a wonderful Kindergarten experience,"
says Alex.
If you’re looking to start your child
off on the path to a global education, it
seems like Hamilton Hill may just be the
place for you!
