I’ve been reading
a lot about new
skincare products. I’ve been
using the same products for
years. Do I really ever need
to change?

Award-winning hair stylist and make-up artist
Rennie Fensham is well-known for her passion and
skills. Her glamorous background spans 28 years of
working in beauty, fashion and TV, in South Africa,
the US and, for the last six years, in Hong Kong.
Feeling inspired by all the articles about creativity in this month’s
issue? Here are three quick and easy ways to get creative with
your hair:
1.
Buy the latest hair magazines that include photos of all kinds
of hairstyles and celebrity looks that you think would be fun to
try. Then, try to create them yourself, or enlist the help of your
hairstylist for the more complicated ones.
2.
Try a new style every day and take a quick snap of it to create
your own “look book”. Then you can easily refer back to your
favourite ones to create them again and again.
3.
Consider adding temporary embellishments to your hair
like hair bands, feathers, flowers, or clip-on hairpieces that
extend your hair in a natural-looking way or offer a shock
of bright neon colour.
Exfoliator
Layer upon layer of dead cells can
make skin look pale and dull. In order
to remove these dead cells and let
new ones shine through, you’ll need
to exfoliate. It’s easy to do it yourself
gently, please! – and it will help
maintain healthy-looking skin year-
round.
An exfoliating product I really
like is
Bobbi Brown Buffing Grains for
Face
,
which you can mix into your
normal cleanser. Formulated with
Japanese adzuki bean powder, these
grains sweep away dry and dead skin
without removing moisture. Being able
to mix the grains
with cleanser
yourself gives you
an added bonus
of deciding
whether you
want a light
scrub or a
deep, abrasive
exfoliation.
Yes, you do, and
here are three
good reasons why:
1.
Age. Our skin changes
(
along with the rest of us!)
every day, from hormones, weather and environmental factors. Your skincare
needs, consequently, will change, too.
2.
Travel. Different countries and climates require different skincare. The product
that is working in a high-humidity environment like Hong Kong won’t produce
the same results in a country with snow, strong winds or dry weather.
3.
Hormones. As women, our hormones change throughout our lives. From
young adulthood, to womanhood, to pregnancy, nursing and pre- and post-
menopause, we have to adjust our skincare accordingly.
