inyour opinion
We asked: What’s your family’s favourite way to spend a rainy day?
I
am fromMumbai, where we have a distinct
monsoon season. We used to love being at
home playing board games and enjoying
some hot tea and pakoras. –
Tarana
W
e like staying inside and
cuddling up together on
the sofa while watching
a family movie. –
Jenny
W
e get out the paints and get creative. The kids have
a lovely time and don’t even care that they can’t
ride their bikes. –
Michelle
W
e love to put on our gum boots and go splish,
splash, sploshing in the puddles. Sometimes we
hunt for snails and keep them as pets for the day!
–
Katy
W
e love to turn off the lights,
close the curtains and run
around with flashlights and
glowsticks. When we’re all
tired, we make popcorn on the stove and
watch a movie. –
Sarah
W
hen the kids were
younger, we used
to put on flip flops,
swimsuits and
raincoats, find a friend or two and
some plastic bags, and head down
to our local playground. In the
pouring rain, the playground would
be empty, so the kids could slide
down on the fast, slippery slides and
collect rainwater in the plastic bags
to make water bombs that they’d
throw at each other! –
Linda
W
e pack up the kids and
head to the playroom
at our club, or get
together with friends
for an at-home playdate. Baking is
always a favourite Daddy-led activity
in our house, too. –
Pauleen
S
plashing and playing in the rain:
my five-year-old can do this for
hours. –
Shweta
W
e like to dress up in our rain
gear, grab the umbrella, and
go play in the rain outside.
It’s a great chance for the
little ones to experience how much fun rain
can be. –
Paveena
W
e are British, so we LOVE rain. Rainy days
= Hunter wellies, rain macs, splashing in
puddles, then finding somewhere outside –
but undercover – for lunch, while watching
the rain pour around us. Bliss! –

morning of arts and crafts at home
with the kiddies before taking a
short trip to the library. –

catch two 45-minute shows back

enlightening. –

our relaxing day. –
