The secret to this Southside apartment’s style is neutral shades, played up with

sumptuous fabrics and bold art.

W

hen Jenny and Jerry Collard and their two children Fred, nine, and Emily, seven, planned a move into their apartment many years ago, they knew they wanted to be near the sea. So, this Stanley residence was perfect for their Hong Kong base. With Jenny’s eye for pale interiors and lush fabrics, it is no wonder that the apartment feels so light and airy.

“I love the location, being near the sea in Stanley, and we love the high ceilings,” says Jenny. Her style is simple and unfussy, yet very warm and inviting. It is unusual in Hong Kong to see such a statement bookcase, but it makes the home feel lived-in and worldly, with little curiosities and special things from their travels.

Jenny will source homewares anywhere from Lane Crawford to Ikea and everywhere in between. And when she travels back to Europe, she loves browsing in the homewares stores there. She knows what she likes and doesn’t compromise. What’s her favourite space in the apartment? “I love the big terrace, which is like a second living room. Sitting out there with a cup of coffee in the morning or a glass of wine in the evening is very relaxing.”
