New Tales of the Gobi Desert: Poem
Chinese International School, Irene Wang, Poetry Group 3
A town right in the middle,
Buried in the heart of it all.
It gleams,
A cluster of yurts wrapped in solitude.
No sound at all,
In the Gobi Desert.
A slight wind runs across,
Picking up your hair.
You are here,
Finally.
But what waits?
Will it be a market?
The chickens,
Squawking and screeching,
In the sand along side the venders.
An oasis?
Behind the yurts?
The blue waves,
Distorting your features,
A beautiful scene to gaze upon.
The unexpected surprises,
The thrills all part of the fun.
The town stands there alone,
Your long journey,
All worth it.
Your final destination is,
Just only the beginning.
The start to your life,
Better than ever.
But will you go on?
Will you accept my challenge?
Go explore the unknown.
Live life to the fullest.
The clock is ticking,
The sand is slipping,
Through the hourglasses’ clutch.
So go!
