This month: A mani pedi at
The Four Seasons
The low-down
I started off with a “Perfect Pedicure”,
the ultra-indulgent treat for your feet,
followed by an “Expresso Manicure”,
because of a lack of time. Since in my
experience shellac is the only way to
go for those who want to keep their
nails looking flawless for more than just
a few minutes, I opted for it with both
my pedicure and my manicure.
The experience
With an unbeatable Hong Kong
skyline as your view, deep, comforting
massage chairs to support your weary
body and any beverage of your choice
to quench your thirst, you’re off to a
good start when you get settled at the
Four Seasons for your nail services. You
can even order food from the hotel if
you’re feeling peckish.
Once fully installed, and muscles
beginning to breathe a sigh of relief,
I enjoyed a thoroughly indulgent
pedicure, with scrubs, a deep massage
and moisturising before my nails were
perfectly shaped and given a glossy
coat of my favourite hot red. It was so
enjoyable and relaxing that I almost felt
guilty that I still had another treatment
to savour.
My hands, which are always dry,
worn out and showing the signs
of a lack of love, were in seventh
heaven being massaged and deeply
moisturised. I have to admit that by
this point I was so completely chilled
out that I almost drifted off into a light
slumber.
Feeling great!

Q
With the weather being so
changeable recently and
coming out of winter, my skin has
really suffered. Do you have any tips
to keep skin soft and supple?
A
You are not alone in the quest
for winter-to-spring skin solutions
– change of weather is a culprit
in skin changes. A combination of
cold weather and heating systems
can dry up the skin. Hydration and
moisturisation are keys to keep skin
moist and supple. Drinking lots of water
is a given, but make sure you have
a good moisturiser, too. If you have
dry patches, start with a non-soapy
cleanser to minimise irritation followed
by a fragrance-free moisturiser. We
need to treat the sensitivity first. If
your skin issue is general dryness, look
for products packed with hyaluronic

anyone’s day.
Who should go?
If you simply fancy a little treat and a
touch of sprucing up, this place will
tick the box – but you can also hire out
the whole section and go with friends,
or book the mummy and daughter
special.
The nitty gritty:

acid – this is a humectant that binds
moisture to your skin. Serum, essences
and moisturisers are must-haves as
they plump up and hydrate your
skin. Bring along with you a purse-
size facial spritzer (you can purchase
these bottles with spray and fill them
with mineral water and maybe a
drop of your favorite face oil) and
spray away when you feel dry and
dehydrated. Don’t forget your eyes
and lips as well – they have thinner
skin around them and easily get
dry and dehydrated too. There are
convenient eye and lip creams
available all in one tube.
