This month: Sense of Touch
Laboratories Signature Fresh
Collagen Infusion Facial
The down-low
This facial infuses fresh, pure collagen
directly into your skin. It claims to
minimise fine lines, combat the signs
of ageing and visibly improve the
appearance of your skin. Together with
anti-ageing hand and eye treatment,
your skin should be plumped up,
smooth and younger- looking.
The experience
This is a wonderful facial and so
much more. Your face is given the full
attention it deserves, from a thorough
(and very necessary, in my case)
extractions session, to cleansing,
massaging and deep moisturising.
An intensive shoulder massage
that tackled the pesky knots in my
tense shoulders ensures that you
fall into a complete and utter deep
relaxation. You also have the deep
moisturising and massaging of hands,
an invigorating head massage, and
an anti-ageing eye treatment to look
Feeling great!
THE SPA INSIDER
Each month, our undercover spa spy samples some of the city’s top treatments.
Q
Is it OK to have a massage in
the early weeks of pregnancy? I
have heard that you should steer clear
of massages and even some facials. Is
this true?
A
Massage is a blissful way
to relieve aches and
pains. However, massage is a
contraindication during the first three
months of pregnancy, as this stage
is the most delicate for the mum-
to-be. There are no clinical studies
that demonstrate why massage
during the first trimester should not
be administered, but this is the stage
when the foetus is developing most.
There is no link between miscarriage
and massage during this time, but to
avoid potential issues, it is safer to wait
until one’s pregnancy has reached the
‘safe zone’.
Many salons recommend
avoiding massages during this
stage of pregnancy. In the second
and third trimesters, pregnancy
massages can be wonderfully
relaxing and beneficial to the
wellbeing of the mum-to-be. It is
also safe to have manual facials
(not machine administered). In
fact, facials can be an enjoyable
treat during this time, but it is worth
checking that all the ingredients in
the products to be used are safe
for pregnant women with your
therapist.

Once the treatment was finished, I was
feeling totally relaxed, refreshed and I
left with a clean, glowing, fresh face.
Happy girl!

This facial is really designed for people
who feel that their skin is showing the
signs of ageing and could do with
