Playtimes February 2015 - page 20

I
am nature’s special child. I trust and am
rewarded by trust. I am fair of face and
full of grace,” Sheep bleats softly as she
steps in to shape the year ahead.
According to ancient Chinese
texts, babies born under the Year of
the Sheep are sweet, sensitive and
oh-so-snuggly. Gentle and loving, they
seek nothing more than the infinite
solace of their mama’s arms.
Parenting a Sheep babe will
require patience and understanding,
advises Jill Lander, Golden Elements’
Feng Shui Master, whose services
include “Feng Shui baby I.D” – an
in-depth personal baby analysis.

expecting a Sheep baby? Read on…
Early years
The comfort-loving Sheep baby depends
on you to create a secure environment
in which she can thrive. During the
day, your little lamb will want to follow
wherever you go, frolicking and having
fun by your side.
At night, she’ll want to snuggle
up beside you. If co-sleeping is not
your preferred sleeping arrangement,
position your baby’s crib along the East,
Southeast, South or North, and give her
a comfort blanket or toy to hold onto
from an early age, Jill advises. As she
grows older and night-time terrors rear
their ugly head, your warm embrace
will help settle her to sleep.
A warm bubble bath filled with
duckies is a blissful way to soothe your
sensitive child, Jill adds. Tickle her tiny
toes and enjoy the tinkling sound of
her laughter as she splashes around in
her bath.
Growing independent
Expect tears and fears on your child’s
first day at school. Your little lamb dislikes
discipline and rigid routines and, of
course, she wants you by her side. Rest
assured, your shy yet charming Sheep
will soon attract a plethora of protective
friends to help her settle in.
Back at home, your creative
Sheep will likely retreat into a secret
magical world where her brilliant
imagination can roam freely. In the
real world, however, she’ll never stray
too far from her creature comforts.
Give your child a furry friend to
care for and you’ll see her responsible
and nurturing side. Influenced by
Wood – one of the five elemental
types of each of the 12 Chinese
Zodiac signs – Wood Sheep babies
are the most compassionate of all
the Sheep types. Expect her to take in
stray animals, Jill adds.
Relationships
According to Jill, Sheep babies connect
best with Horses, Rabbits and Pigs, and
clash with Ox siblings.
Expectant mother Megumi Sekine
Vernon wonders how her Snake child,
Anja, will bond with her forthcoming
Sheep baby and what the future holds
in store for them. Anja will likely be the
leader, followed dutifully by her doting
little lamb sibling. She will benefit from
her Sheep sibling’s creative talent,
says Jill. However, the Sheep child’s
constant craving for comfort may
frustrate the intense and intelligent
Snake child.
Sibling squabbles aside, the
generous and nurturing Sheep
remains loyal, committed and
protective towards her loved ones.
Armed with an abundance of cuddles
and kisses, your charming child will be
a treasure to cherish, Jill concludes.
What can you expect if you’re expecting a Sheep baby?

finds out.
