Playtimes February 2015 - page 6

W
e’re changing things up a bit this month!
Over the years, I’ve been
lucky enough to meet some pretty amazing folks from our community – folks who aren’t
necessarily celebrities, but
regular families taking on interesting,
unusual and often inspiring endeavours
. And I thought you’d enjoy
meeting them just as much as I have.
So, this month, we’re featuring just a small handful of these mums and dads and their families. You’ll meet
a dad who delivered his own baby in a moving taxi, a few mums who started their own successful businesses,
and a professional athlete. And there are survivors – brave families who have battled illnesses and come out
the other side stronger. As you think about the year ahead, I hope you find their stories inspiring.
And, speaking of the year ahead, after nearly five years as your editor-in-chief, I’ve decided it’s time
for me to find my next adventure.
This has been a wonderful job
– an amazing opportunity
to grow the magazine, to work with a truly outstanding team and to meet so many of you.
I can’t
possibly express how grateful I am to you for welcoming me into your
home each month and for allowing Playtimes to be part of your parenting
conversation
.
It’s my pleasure to introduce your new editor, Freya Paleit.
You’ll be hearing
more from her starting next month, but I can tell you that I think she’s going to do a great job!
As we all get ready to welcome the
Year of the Sheep
, I wish you and your family happiness, health
and another year of creating wonderful memories.
With heartfelt thanks,
Tracey Starr
