I
am over the moon to be taking over as your new Editor
and to be
working with the fabulous
Playtimes
team. This magazine is focused on the two most important
things in life – children and parenting. Those of you who have met me will know how
totally
smitten I am with my little rascals
Thor (5) and Orson (4). They are a force of
nature (you generally hear them before you see them),
mischievous, bouncy, hilarious
and extremely cuddly
. When I became a mother it quickly dawned on me that while being a
parent is the most exhausting and worrying thing imaginable, it is also by far the most satisfying and fun
job in the world. We all try to do the best that we can as parents and strive to be perfect – but of course
that isn’t possible. However, I have realised the importance of a supportive network of fellow mothers
and fathers. We need to ask questions, receive answers and be reassured about how we are doing.
How great to have a
feature-filled magazine
that endeavours to support us on our journeys
as parents and answer the endless questions that come with the job – a guidebook for the adventure of
a lifetime!
With that in mind,
I would like to thank Tracey for her amazing work as
Editor over the past 4+ years
, and for guiding the evolution of
Playtimes
into what it is
today. We wish her all the very best in her next pursuit.
As a Piscean
, it is fitting that my new life at
Playtimes
starts in March with an issue focused
on styles and trends. We hope you enjoy it, whether it inspires you to try out some of the new crazes,
such as practising mindfulness or photo shoots in the birthing suite(!), or simply entertains you with the
parenting styles of bygone decades or foreign lands.
Have a great month and happy reading!
