Playtimes May 2015 - page 6

W
ell, May is all about
mums in Hong Kong
– it’s the time of the year when we
show some appreciation to the leading ladies in our lives! That’s right, it’s Mother’s Day
this month and we think that is worthy of a whole
Playtimes
issue.
We all know that mums are
‘multi-tasking wonders of the world’
and so we are taking a look at just some aspects of their amazing lives. We’ll be looking at mums who
are
training for marathons
in their ‘spare’ time, mums who are
striving to achieve
the much sought-after work/life balance,
mums who want to find
part-time jobs
for their teens
here in the Fragrant Harbour, mums who have encouraged their children to
take
up non-traditional sports,
mums who want to
rekindle the romance with their
partners,
mums who want to
rediscover their style post kids
and even
a mother-
daughter business team
who are creating beautiful accessories together. We’ve also got a whole
host of yummy recipes to make for - and with -Mum. It’s all packed into this issue!
This month, we had a huge amount of fun on a wonderfully girly fashion shoot with mother and daughter,
Charlotte and Tilly, who spent a day out having their hair done at Airplay, wandering through the streets of
HK, doing a spot of shopping and stopping for a refreshing drink, down town. The pictures say it all.
While I’m at it, I’ll take the opportunity to give a little shout out to my mum – the greatest mother in the
world - although she probably doesn’t even realise it is
Mother’s Day this month
, as she lives
in England where they celebrate it in March. I have always been close to my mum, looked up to her and
respected her in many ways, but I’m not sure I realised just how tough it is to be a mum until I became one…
so hats off to all the mums out there
.
Have a great month and happy reading,
Freya Paleit
