Kate Farr
As mum to an extremely active three-year-old
(and with another on the way), British-born Kate
has resigned herself to never again experiencing
a full night’s sleep. Happily, this allows for plenty
of time spent on the other love of her life, writing.
Previously a freelance writer in both Hong Kong and
Shanghai, Kate edited a Hong Kong parenting website before leaving to
co-found writing and editing agency, Editors’ Ink. She now happily divides
her time between chasing her son around and sitting typing with a mug
of tea, which she claims as light cardio. When not pounding her laptop
on behalf of clients, Kate pounds the streets of Hong Kong for the best
family-friendly activities, travel and foodie treats to share on her blog:
accidentaltaitai.com. Whatever passes for remaining spare time is spent with
her hairdresser, maintaining her trademark improbable shade of red.
Cong Contreras
Having grown up in the Philippines, where life
was never dull – frequently punctuated by either
natural disasters or fiesta extravaganzas – Cong
is not one to lead a humdrum life. These days,
having recently added a third to her brood, she
has been perfecting her juggling skills. In between
diaper changes and dead-of-the-night feedings, Cong runs a school library,
teaches Kindermusik, writes, reads, cooks and travels. Thanks in part to her
college sweetheart-turned husband who, 12 years ago, whisked her away to
an adventure-filled life in Malaysia, Australia and now in Hong Kong, she goes
to bed at night tired but contented, and grateful for a full life spent on what
she loves the most: her family, books, music and writing.
