For babies and toddlers
Interactive Telling Time
Ever feel that life would be easier if your
toddler could grasp the concept of
time? Phrases like, “You can watch TV
for 20 minutes”, “Snack time is at 4pm”
or, “Daddy will be home in one hour”,
would make a bit more sense.
This app helps children learn to
tell the time, as well as count down,
differentiate between night and day
and recognise elements of a clock, all
in an engaging way with drag-and-
drop features and games. Children
collect stars for every right answer and
use them to buy fish for the app’s virtual
fish tank.
The free version offers these
features plus a choice of two clocks
and background sounds. Upgrading
to the paid version unlocks a variety
of games, quizzes, puzzles, clock faces
and more.
This app is available for Apple,
Android and Amazon devices.
For kids
ChoreMonster
Teaching little ones to do chores is
never going to be an easy task, but
with a little help from technology, it can
be fun.
Parents and children access their
unique accounts from desktops or
mobile devices. Kids can use the family
desktop, while parents can keep track
of each child’s accomplishments
remotely and schedule or modify tasks
and rewards as needed. Children use
earned points to “purchase” pre-
defined rewards.
An image-uploading feature
allows both sides to use pictures in
conjunction with words to convey
either what they expect done, or
showcase what they have achieved
(“Look how well I made the bed,
Mummy!”).
Basic membership is free, and an
option to upgrade to a monthly plan
gives children access to the Monster
Carnival.
This app is available for Apple
devices, and an Android version is
coming soon.
For mums and dads
Cozi Family Organizer
Imagine having your own personal
assistant, who would send appointment
reminders, keep you from forgetting
birthdays, maintain multiple shopping
lists, share family contacts and even
keep track of photos and memories
through a journal.
A real-life PA might not be
accessible to everyone, but the Cozi
Family Organizer app is, and it does
all of the above and more. A single
account gives access to the mobile
app and website, where additional
features, such as meal planners and a
recipe box, can be found.
Almost all features are free but, as
usual, there is also a paid membership
option that adds a few more tools.
This app is available for Apple,
Android, Amazon, Windows and
BlackBerry devices.
