Playtimes Jan 2014 - page 6

I
trust you’re all enjoying the
festive season
. I just love that Christmas and Chinese New Year
bracket the season in such a way that encourages us to
indulge and celebrate
for
more than a month.
And I also love our
annual travel issue
. Long-time readers will remember that it’s only
been a few years that we’ve been producing a January issue at all – we used to take the month off to
really indulge in the festivities! But, a few years ago, we decided that we – and you! – could handle a
bit more and we instituted the annual January travel issue.
This time of year is already filled with
hope and possibilities
– a blank slate on which all
of our goals for the year seem achievable. I think of these travel stories the same way; they provide
inspiration for all of the places I’ve yet to see, and serve as fun reminders of the ones I’ve already
been fortunate enough to visit.
There’s a destination for everyone inside, whether you fancy an easy-peasy
family break
in Sydney, or an
educational adventure
further afield in Iceland, or even a gloriously
gluttonous road trip through America’s Old West. Those, plus the culture-vulture’s treasure trove of
Tamil Nadu, Bali’s Ogoh Ogoh-filled festival of Nyepi, and travel advice for families looking to hit the
slopes together and little ones heading out on a plane journey unaccompanied, all await you inside.
Here’s to a great
Year of the Horse
, filled with family and friends, travel and dreams
coming true!
Thanks for reading,
Tracey Starr, Editor-in-Chief
