Hong Kong Sinfonietta
’s “This Is Classical Music 3: The Animals Came In
One By One” is now available at major record stores. The double-CD
features 120 minutes of essential classics. Highlights include animal-
themed pieces such as Saint-Saën’s “The Carnival of the Animals”,
Tchaikovsky’s “The Swan Lake Suite” (excerpts) and Respighi’s “The
Birds”. The CD also features Schumann’s piano solo works “Scenes from
Childhood” and Debussy’s “Children’s Corner”. The album includes
specially designed animal stickers and a bonus DVD, which features
behind-the-scenes and concert video clips of Hong Kong Sinfonietta.

The new
Reading at Home with Phonics
workshop from Rachel Todd Consultancy (RTC)
is aimed at parents seeking to enhance home-school links and support their children’s
English reading and writing progress. Priced at $780, the programme comprises two
two-hour workshops guiding parents through the principles of phonics and offering tips
to accelerate children’s progress. Parental engagement can have a positive impact
on children’s reading performance, which is particularly important in Hong Kong’s
