PlayTent
in Stanley aims to promote the joy of learning. The learning
centre offers a wide range of interest-based classes for children
aged 12 months to seven years. Babies and toddlers have fun
sessions – available in both English and Mandarin – to help kick-
start development, plus Messy Play sessions to stimulate senses and
imagination. Older children can benefit from age-appropriate classes
including phonics, English, storytelling, Mandarin, reading, science,

Free drama scheme
Presented by the Hong Kong Repertory Theatre (HKREP) and fully
supported by the Home Affairs Bureau as well as the Education
Bureau,
Funful Learning Project
is a free training scheme covering
drama in pre-primary education. The scheme, taught by HKREP’s
tutors, is designed for local kindergarten teachers. Participants will
learn to understand both the theoretical and practical aspects
of theatre art, whilst acquiring new drama skills to apply during
teaching to provide students with a more enriching learning
experience. Highly flexible in time and location, the scheme can

Developing arts skills promotes confidence and self-esteem, traits
essential for any life path.
Chocolate Factory Performing Arts and
Education Centre
provides an exciting, nurturing environment for
children and adults to develop a lifelong love of dance, music,
theatre and arts. All of their teachers are professional educators as
well as performers. By connecting artistic practice with academic
theory – along with stage performance opportunities – students
develop tools to assist in achieving future artistic and social goals.

Cool new coach
Renowned Fijian Rugby Union player Seru Rabeni has
moved to Hong Kong and joined the
Discovery Bay
Pirates
. Rabeni will work alongside Hong Kong Scottish’s
Craig Hammond to develop their interclub relationship
and enhance the player development pathway and
coaching effort across all ages. Pirates, a fast-growing
and notable sports club, has grown from 30 children
in 2003 to more than 750 players in 2013, and includes
programmes for mini rugby, youth rugby, seniors’
rugby and netball. This season, with a new all-weather
AstroTurf training pitch, Pirates add field hockey and
