to throw parties. We’ve
all been invited to at
least one mega blowout.
Maybe the entire restaurant was
booked out for Junior’s first birthday,
and filled with balloons and custom-
made cupcakes to boot. At another,
the entertainer herself pops out of the
cake. Our family was amazed by a
petting zoo party, where goats enjoyed
the birthday buffet more than the
birthday boy, but apparently this is
small potatoes compared to some fetes.

expat packages were heady and
flowing champagne was the norm.
Big costume parties were a regular
weekend occurrence – for the adults!
