It was survival.
Then, the throne rose again. Sitting on it was a young and muscular Marco Polo. “Now, we
shall fight till death!” Marco Polo charged, swinging his ax and chopped at Victor, merely missing
Victor’s calf by an inch. Victor counter-attacked, stabbed at Marco Polo, an attack that was
deflected easily. They started circling each other, weapons ready to attack.
Marco Polo took the initiative to attack. He struck him in the middle of the belly. Victor
groaned. Marco Polo’s victory was short-lived, as Victor also struck him at his calf.
They’re now equal. Marco Polo again attacked, aiming at Victor’s neck. Victor didn’t try to
evade, but lunged at Marco Polo. He stabbed his sword into the region of his heart. Marco Polo fell
onto the ground, his wound was healed but he himself was older and weaker than before.
“Why do you choose this?” Victor once again questioned. “The Gobi Desert,” Marco Polo
replied, “the Gobi Desert is consisted of sand, and each grain of sand is the incarnation of a
hateful man. The energy that the crystals possess is of hatred and lust of the whole desert.” Victor
nodded. Marco Polo continued, “I have a good wife and good children, however, sometimes one
handful of sand sweeps into my room and makes me feel its emotions. I can’t control myself.”
Victor once again nodded.” Go, son, back to the table and go back to Venice, your home before
the hatred and lust of the desert consume you...” warned Marco Polo. “There must be a way!”
exclaimed Victor, “where’s the exit into the desert?” “I will show you,” Marco Polo breathed, and
slowly shrunk, until he was a small bit of sand.
Suddenly Victor was standing in the desert, surrounded by a tremendous amount of sand.
He wept at the sight of so many people bound to evil. “Let me bear you pain!” “Never.” a voice
echoed. “What does hatred, revenge and lust bring you?” Victor yelled. “Nothing, nothing at all!
What do they bring you? Only loneliness and a feeling of isolation.”
Under his feet, sand stirred, some area transformed from a piece of sandy wilderness into a
fertile area of grassland. Flowers rose, animals revived. Such a great difference! Victor smiled.
The voice echoed again, only happier and more joyous, “Now we’re released, we’re healed. You
healed me, the Creator of this world. Now I shall destroy pain and miseries.”
That’s the tale of the start of the new Gobi Grassland, and also the start of the Golden Era.
The sun had risen, the sky was radiant blue. Victor flashed an ear-to-ear grin and began his
journey home.
