That moment an image of mother flashed in my mind, she was all alone crying and saying my
name over and over.
I looked back at Altai with tears in my eyes and said “Yes, take me home”
I suppose you could say I learned from my time alone, mother was right life in the desert was
hard, and family helped to soften the harsh life and make it bearable and whole. I am glad to say I
have learned my lesson, a lesson well taught by my teacher, the Gobi.
