Dream Journey to the Pearl River Delta
HKBUAS Primary School, Wong,Agatha - 8, Fiction: Group 1
H, MY GOD! I’m so excited! Wait, wait, and wait! I need to catch my breath! Okay, I think I’ve
caught my breath. We’re going to Zhusanjiao! Oh, wait, sorry, I meant The Pearl River. Zhusanjiao
is just what the Chinese call it. Zhusanjiao, what a peaceful, peaceful name. I think it’s where east
meets west, but danger instead of east or west would be meeting us… …
Day 1
I’m really thrilled! Mum was in a good mood, so she took us shopping. I immediately pounced on a shop
called Shop Gadgets Till You Drop Gadgets that sold expensive ridiculously expensive but irresistibly
interesting gadgets. Mum loved a hot pink Juicy Couture iPhone that could shape shift into a convertible
model or a swan! (Aw, Mum, you’re so cute!). Next we had a yoga class that tied me into knots! When we got
back to our hotel, we were surprised to find a red velvet boy embroidered with golden silk dragons slinking
ground the corners and clasps of diamonds mailed by our Uncle Frambioez Latinpratus DofferEvilni. That
was strange he hated us! I felt something was wrong.Very wrong… …
Day 2
Today, we bought another cool gadget. It’s a Hair grip. You basically tie it on your hair, and then command it
to do something. It actually works! Bye! Got to eat lunch! Bad news. Mum knocked over the boy and some
sort of weirdo alien species leaped out!
“AAAAHHHHHHHH!!!!!!” I screamed,“Hair grip, please tie this monstrosity into knots!”
My hair grip elongated, turned into a Knot Bot in ribbon form, and then wrestled the sludgy alien mass into
a heart-shaped knot! I couldn’t help but burst out laughing!
“You will pay!You will---” It broke off in a startled scream as it morphed into a blood-red ruby.
“Oh, do shut up and do us a favor, ” I drawled breezily as I flicked the ruby, and to my astonishment it split
into several smaller rubies and flew onto the box, becoming the dragon’s eyes. Just as I wanted to celebrate my
victory, a soft tinkling of bells rang to the beat of a pop rock song and I was falling, falling, falling… …
I floated down to a soft surface and utter darkness, and then I yawned and rubbed my eyes. It had all been a
dream!
