he Great Wall of China is a wall built to protect the Chinese from the invading Mongols. The Emperor,
who built it was one of China first emperors, Emperor Qin-Shi-Wang. The start of the build was caused by
a conflict; the Chinese not trading to the Mongols, in the result the Mongols started a war. It is now a grand
tourist attraction, and commented by Discovery Channel; “A Man Made Marvel.”
History
On the date of April !9th 24th 1765, (or in the Chinese Calendar; March 13th 1765.) Kublai Khan, the
honourable ruler of Mongolia plus his troops took a visit down to their country neighbour, China. He and his army
marched down to the Forbidden City, Pekin China, to settle down a gentleman’s trade. The Mongolian/Chinese
translator rolls down the script, written “desperate for food.” In a second, the tactless, selfish, stubborn and
exasperating Emperor Qin-Shi-Wang wrote: ”No.” The translator then writes another message on the script; ”Please.”
Another quick reply from the Emperor was again another quick and dismal “No.” Therefore, Kublai Khan and his
army left quickly.

Returning back home, the Ruler of Mongolia, Kublai Khan, quickly tells his translator to write a simple and
quick threat: ”Trade or war.” The message was quickly sent down to China. Kublai Khan was an honest man who
kept his promise., so he got his army ready , and waited for the reply.
Emperor Qin-Shi-Wang, the emperor of China, looked at the threat quickly and stubbornly. The answer to
the threat was a quick and dismal “no.” The emperor did not believe in any threats outside the country. So he went
to bed at night and was woken up with a surprise. The Mongols came rushing down to China, burning all the houses
and stole anything they could eat. The calamity to China was a great catastrophe. About 1,300 Ren-Mins(citizens)
lost all the food and houses. The emperor of China decided to act defensively.
Building
China had two main fortresses; one on the very east, and one on the very west. The Emperor of China’s
plan was to build a vast wall to cover the whole China. Any prisoner or slaves were sent to build the wall. The
finished wall, stretched over 25,000KM of China and with all those bricks piled one-by-one could fit the whole
Earth. Unfortunately, things weren’t so good for the slaves. Over 3,500 people had lost their lives just building the
wall. But to protect the Chinese from the Mongols, it had worked.
The Great Wall of China is now a grand tourist attraction, stretching over 25,000KM and of course,
protected the Chinese.
