girls would show up at this time of the year and would be a trouble to my whole family. You have
no idea how shocked I was when I saw you. In order to protect my family and myself, I had to kill
you, for fear that you were the ones. So I put a curse onto the necklace and made up the ‘legend’.
But now I feel nothing but remorseful. Now, the curse of the necklace is broken, so is the curse of
my family. The Alpha knew it, of course, and told me where you were and so I came here at once
to rescue you,” he said this with relief.
I was even angrier upon hearing that, “I would never harm you! I don’t know you and anyone
from your family! But you made me suffer from pain!”
The old man wept, “I’m sorry, I know how painful you were. I just wanted to ensure that my
family stay safe.” His voice was shaking, “I wanted my family to have a happy future. I had no
choice.” He was begging me to forgive him.
I sighed, “Never mind. Please don’t do it to anyone again. It is terrible!”
The old man huffed and bowed his head miserably. “I won’t,” he promised. I gave him a tiny
smile and picked up the necklace. It was beautiful like how it first appeared in the dessert.
“Don’t you want it, Lucy?” I smiled.
“No thanks,’ Lucy squeaked.
“I’ll take it back,” said the old man as he pocketed it. “Thank you for your understanding.”
I smiled and said, “No problem. You have a kind heart.”
He smiled and grasped my heart softly, “You too.”
Do I have a kind heart? I pondered as the man walked away with the necklace in his hand.
