flawless man was caught a bit off guard. His mouth went dry and that’s when he felt something
alien in his stomach. Butterflies, he thought, was what humans called them. They exchanged
glances and that’s the moment when they met the loves of their lives.
“So, princess, you like reading a lot, don’t you?” Titan chuckled slightly in amusement, as if
it was the most ridiculous thing he’d heard from the princess. They were sitting on a carriage,
heading to the palace. It was expected to arrive at the palace in three months, which was really
fast because of the Silk Road.
“Yes,” Genevieve answered, flushing in tomato red. She’d never felt this way before. It was so
unlike her. She’d seen tons and tons of brilliant men before but none of them made her feel like
this. His smile, his laughter... his everything made her heartbeat accelerate. She knew this meant
trouble, but she didn’t care. “Follow your heart when you think you’ve met the one in your life.
Don’t hesitate, my dear.” That’s what her mother had told her before she died. The thought of her
mother dying made her want to cry. So she did. Tears rolled down her cheeks uncontrollably. Her
body was racked with sobs. She looked vulnerable – so vulnerable as if she’s made of glass, as if
she could be shattered into million pieces of shards. Titan’s eyes softened. His sapphires liquified
into pools of water. Withholding thousands and thousands of feelings and emotions, he softly
wiped away Genevieve’s salt of her soul. You know she isn’t your target. His eyes hardened as he
hastily drew back his hand. Genevieve snapped her head up and stared worriedly at Titan. Her
eyes were red and puffy. She looked like an abandoned puppy, except she was a lot cuter than it.
“Just do-don’t cry,” he stuttered as his eyebrows furrowed. His fists clenched and after a few
seconds of silence, he fished something from his pocket. It was a piece of black paper. On the paper
was a scribble of grids of white zigzagging lines. It was like a code – at least it was to Genevieve.
“What is it?” questioned Genevieve in a muffed and unclear voice.
“You don’t need to know, princess,” he mumbled. He continued, “but remember this, princess...”
He stopped abruptly and pulled Genevieve towards his chest viciously. “Princess, I don’t mean to
offend you, just do exactly what I say and do not say a word,” his voice shook and his bloodshot
eyes widened. He looked startled, but still, he managed to remain as calm as usual. Genevieve
wasn’t scared at all, all because she was in Titan’s arms. The warmth tingled against her skin, she
fluttered her eyelids shut - she’s drenched into the warmth of his arms. He’s like the missing piece
of her puzzle. In his arms, she felt complete.
“Beep beep beep-” the beeping sound bought her back to consciousness. Her eyes widened in
shock when she caught a tiny man holding a silvery stone-like equipment with red light directing
at Titan. She stared up almost immediately only to see Titan grimaced in agonizing pain.
Genevieve’s heart ached as she saw him suffering. It was like a knife stabbed straight to her heart
seeing him like that. She’d rather him to be her right now. She didn’t want him to suffer - it was
the last thing she wanted.
“Stop it, Droma!” Titan yelled at the one who had just attacked him. Despite of his condition,
he sounded more determined than ever. “I will never kill them!” He roared.
“What?” The one who’s called Droma asked disbelievingly at first, then shouted in fury, “How
dare you! You perfectly know what we need from them! The resources! What are you doing Titan?
You want us dead?” Droma glared at Genevieve hotly, as if he was talking to her all along.
“I said stop it!” Titan bawled, covering Genevieve’s ears as he spat out some otherworldly language.
“You want us dead Titan?” Genevieve’s eyes watered and shook her head incredulously. “I
can’t believe it! Y-you... Urgh! How could I be that stupid? Trusting you wholeheartedly and all
