the desert without any supplies, so I must conduct my plan.
Sweats started to shed from my palms. I approached to the dagger stealthy. All at once, I had
a grasp of its handle and pulled it out from the loose sheath. When I attempted to backstab this
bandit, his ally cried agitatedly,
‘Watch out!’
Suddenly, his walking pace accelerated with his full agility, which successfully evaded my
lethal stab. Then, he pulled out his polished sword to confront me. All my bravado was gone, as
a tiny dagger could never beat a great sword. My first impulse was to grab my forage bag and
darted to the vast desert. When I started to escape, I heard a loud slashing sound. My whole calf
seemed to be electrified and I was paralyzed. I stumbled and lied on the ground, shrinking, trying
to remove myself from the horror. I rolled the leg back and forth on the ground, which stifled the
worst of it. My calf was screaming, and my hands were covered in scarlet welts. I was writhing in
pain and I twitched hysterically because of the scorching hotness of the bruises. As I huddled on
the sand, I had eavesdropped on some of their conversation.
‘Let’s leave her here and continue to locate the monument. Our comrade said that the relic of
Mongol Empire hundred years ago should be nearby. We needed to go and continue searching.
‘Ya! I am sure that the woman will be dead very soon,’ said the bandit in a menacing tone.
After that, they grabbed my supplies and lead the camel to trudge away. As I watched
them staggered out of sight, I gritted my teeth and pulled myself to my feet, this experience
was tormenting. I could feel my pulse pounding in my temples; it came to my realization that
assaulting those bandits was actually an imprudent and ludicrous act for me, because I was just a
mediocre young explorer. I apprehended that the valuables in the relic of Mongol Empire cannot
fell into the hands of this vicious raiders and I wanted to protect the relic. However, with the
scarcity of water and daily supplies, I was sure I would become emaciated very soon. When I was
going to faint, I noticed a spiral-like swirl was approaching me!
It was dazzling and I regained my consciousness within a split second. I sighed with
relief, however, at the time I tried to raise my legs, the swelling and the pain came back, the
insurmountable pressure was also assuaged. Flabbergasted by the recovery, I glanced upon the
sky, I noticed something different. The broad sky was as blue as a collection of sapphires, while
some patches of lands were covered with green weeds, which looked like emeralds when the
sunlight shone on them. This was such a paradisiacal place
When I stood up, an uncanny murmur of voice sparked off in my mind.
‘Young Lady, please step into my sanctuary!’
After that, a humongous underground dungeon popped up gradually! I was mesmerized in
awe, as it looked like the lair of a beast. On top of that, aesthetic sculptures were craved on the
surface of it. All of a sudden, a thought sparkled off in my mind—that matched the description of
grandpa’s myth story and this should be the relic of Mongol Empire!
Never had I thought about having a chance to glance at such a momentous monument, I
pulled the entrance lever and strode into this dungeon. As I walked downwards, the surroundings
were tranquil, a layer of haze also impeded my vision and it retained an aura of mystery. The
journey was long and as soon as the layer of haze cleared out, some sparkles of light flickered. In
front of me was a spacious room, with a coffin at the center. At that moment, the awkward sound
was engendered in my mind again.
‘Young Lady, I am the soul of the emperor of the Mongol Empire. In these few years, there are
