to know its appearance.
The “Death Worm” was crawling outside and its body was growing longer and longer. We were
frozen although the weather wasn’t that cold.
The awful shadow suddenly disappeared. It came back into the sand.
We pulled on our blankets and tried to sleep again. However, we opened our eyes till the
next morning.
Before we got out the tents, we had checked the situation outside because of what had
happened the before.
This place was dangerous so we had to leave as quick as we could. We even forgot our breakfast.
We couldn’t waste our water. Cautus became the substitution of food and water. It could save
us from hunger and thirst. But some of them weren’t edible.
My expedition paid effort to make every single step. We really wanted to have a shower, but
there wasn’t any fresh water.
Ray pointed forward and said, “Hey! There is a city. There must be restaurants, markets and
houses. Let’s go there to take a rest.”
Amy looked around and asked, “Really? Why I can’t see it?”
“Ray, it is your imagination. People may have it when go through the desert,” realized Tom.
When we were finding a place for a rest, May discovered an oasis. There grew many plants
which were able to live in extreme conditions like the desert. We rushed to there and had a look.
We once asked the nomads and we knew that this place was called Gobi Gurvansaikan
National Park. It was one of the natural beautiful of Gobi. The grass was like a large flat mat
paving on the desert and the trees were like the natural guards blocking the sand and storms
which could be fatal to people.
We had already finished our lunch before going to a place where some indigenous people lived.
After arriving at our destination, we saw a lot of Ger camps there. I eventually could see the
Ger camps. It was no longer just in the book, but in the real life.
The hosts of the Ger camps were hospitable. They performed their traditional songs and
dances. We looked around in the village and spent a night there.
The next day, we said goodbye to the host. We couldn’t bear to part.
After we left the village, we walked along the river. Some little herders were herding their sheep.
They already took card of dozen of sheep although they were small. We had to learn from them!
We left the oasis as a sandstorm was about to strike. Dust was blown into the air and spread
everywhere. We must close our eyes tightly, otherwise the sand would come into our eyes.
The boys and girls held together so that we could avoid being blown away by the strong wind
and got lost. Luckily, a truck driver passing by agreed to give us a free ride. We were saved from
the danger.
We didn’t know if the weather would be better, so we decided to go back to the Mainland.
This journey only took use three days but we experienced a lot in it. It brought us not only
challenges but also friendships, knowledge and unforgettable experience.
