All of a sudden, I lost my balance and hit the ground. Then, I lost track of my memory.
“Hey! Do you know that you’ve been in a coma for 12 hours? We will be late if we don’t leave
now! Take some good rest and pack your stuff. ‘ll be leaving tomorrow morning, early morning. ”
I hear a voice, soft and graceful. Where am I? Why wasn’t I in my clean bedroom?
“You are lying on a hospital bed. We are your mates.” The other boy, 180, medium built, said.
After half an hour, I came back to my senses and told the three people around me about the
letter I received. They said they also received the same letter.
“Nearly forgot to introduce myself, I am Jarred, from Wroutcombe. Where do you guys come
from?” I am interested in these three people, no matter good or bad, smart or stupid, kind or cruel.
“Hi, I am Jonathan. From Australia.”
“I am Elya.”
“I am Barney, from America.”
“By the way, where is your country? Wroutcombe? I have never heard of that before.”
Barney asked.
“It’s a country in Russia, not many people knew its existence before the 19th century, when
our army invaded the neighboring states.”
By then I noticed a strange pentagon on his thumb. A black one. I thought it was some kind of
tattoo, but I was wrong.
The next morning, when I was barely up, I fully recovered and wanted to find out the truth
about the pentagon. There was once an evil cult in Kimore, which smuggle antiques to overseas
states, and their symbol is a skull with no teeth. Am I too suspicious? But I am desperate to find
out the truth.
When we had breakfast together, I unintentionally looked at their thumbs, yet they all closed
their fists. This made me thought of my fate. I feel panicked, aghast with horror, are these three
people trust-worthy?
After breakfast, they told me that we are going to the isolated side of the desert, and we are
going to join a contest to walk barefoot across the desert. It is known as the most dangerous and
adventurous contest in the world. Why would we teenagers be doing so? I remembered that the
participants were all adults.
When we get on the jeep, I didn’t think too much, but just focused on the magnificent and pure
scene of the desert. I can feel the hot wind blowing and battering on my skin, and dehydrating.
“Seems like you will need some water, bro. You’re dehydrating” Barney suggested.
He handed a bottle of water to me, the plastic tag is a bit torn, but the words are clear ---
drink it, or your head’s off.
I shouted “Is this whole thing planned? Organized?” the fear, confusion and anger filled my
heart and soul.
“Sorry, but whoever knows our secret should say goodbye to the world.” Barney sneered as
he saids.
“We believed you are the lucky one. Two days before we knew you were one of the spy
informer of the Wroutcombe Bureau of Investigation.”
“I have nothing to do with them! I am just a fourteen year old kid! How could I be a spy
