Fiction: Group 2
Clutching 2 hard loaves of bread and some berries, she crept back to her room. Check! Next, she wrote to
Lisa her farewell letter, and laid it on her bed. Check! Then, she packed a few of her clothes, her uncle’s
photo and quietly, without a word, she left the silent orphanage. Another check!
“ Bye! Orphanage! I will never see you again. Send my farewell to Lisa.” Sara mumbled. Her grand
plan was to ride those cargo ships all the way to her Uncle’s house. However, the question remained-how?

Her heart beating rapidly, when the vessel stopped at the riverbank to get some fuel, Sara sneaked
on the colossal cargo ship. Finding a decent hiding space-a big cardboard box, she crept into it. Using her
pencil, she poked a hole for eavesdropping. Then finally, her moment arrived! The ship had officially set off
to the great Pearl River!
“Wow!” Sara couldn’t help saying. Knowing that her trip would only last for 1 day, she felt little
disappointed, but relieved at the same time. Munching on a few frozen berries, she marveled at the beautiful
river. She spent the rest of her day eating and thinking. How should she find her uncle? Slowly, the gentle
rocking of the sea, and the refreshing wind made Sara’s eyelids droop, and a few minutes later she was
asleep…

“Land ahoy!” cried the sailors, raising their sail. Sara blinked. She was in Hong Kong!
“Oh boy! “She exclaimed. She jumped out of the boat when no one was looking.
“Uncle might be anywhere,” she said, reaching in her pocket for the photo. ”I should start
looking.” At the pier, everyone was bustling about. Sara never knew that Hong Kong would have that
many people. Where would uncle be? Stopping for a few minutes, she marveled at Hong Kong. Look at the
tall skyscrapers! She breathed. Hong Kong is so packed with people! So different from Guangzhou…
Suddenly, Sara immediately felt excited. Now that she have been in a cargo ship, what was her
next dream? What would life be like with her uncle? Fun, she suspected. And maybe, just maybe, her uncle
might be the boss of the Hong Kong cargo shipping company-which meant a lot of more cargo ship rides!
