Indae awoke lying on a soft cotton bed with a cool cloth pressed to her forehead. Sitting up she
realized she was in her bed with three concerned family members staring down at her. Melissa was the first
one to break the unsettling silence. Snuggling up to her sister, she whispered in her ear, “Thank you.”
That, of all things, is what made Indae happy. Jumping out of bed, a frown blossomed on her face.
“Darling, are you okay?” Mom asked. “I’m fine,” mumbled Indae. “But what about Melissa? She
swallowed some poisonous berries.” “Oh that” chuckled Mom. “That was just a minor allergic reaction.
