y name is Rave, a Hebrew name meaning ‘ambition’.

I live in the Pearl River Delta region, one of the greatest economic hubs in China. Through

thousands of years, it was transformed from a small village to a bustling busy city, blooming with life like a

rose in spring. Running along it was the Pearl River Delta, running like a thick river then branching off on

different paths to the South China Sea. I used to think it was like a hundred headed serpent, with a thick

scaly body and tangles of long necks ending in heads with teeth that could chomp off

          your

          head with one

          enormous bite.

The Pearl River Delta has had its share of adventures. Once, a geyser opened up in the bottom of the river,

spewing hundreds of gallons of river water straight into the air. Another time, a small meteorite landed just

straight next to where I live and gouged a small crater on the riverside. Nobody was hurt, though the blast

          shocked everybody.

An ancient Chinese legend said that there was a secret chamber below the river where aliens camped when

they came to visit earth. Many people had risked their lives trying to find it, and everybody was dreaming of

secret entrances to the cave of mysteries. But after a while, everyone forgot it and the legend just died away.

All of this changed when small rumbles in the ground happened, and it happened frequently. Also, some

people claimed that they saw strange figures rise from the bottom of the river at night. It happened so often

that the government used search teams to scan the bottom of the Pearl River. Everyone was disturbed by

these happenings and often discussed it. I myself thought it was very grotesque and strange.

“But perhaps it was just a change in the earth’s crust. The strange figures might just as well be people trying

to play pranks,” was what most people said in their reaction. But I think there might be far more

          inexplicable reasons for these things.

One night, as I lay in bed thinking, my window slid open. I caught a glimpse of a glowing green face. It was

covered by a green mask with strange symbols. I tried to scream but no sound came out of my mouth. The

mask turned red and I passed out.

I woke up in a strange cave, with stalactites hanging from the ceiling. the walls pulsated a strange energy

from within, and they glowed different colours. Gingerly, I tested my legs. They were working still. I

walked around to one of the walls and touched it. They were made out of solid metal. It glowed and an

invisible force smashed me about fifteen feet backwards.

“This must be the the cave of mysteries!” I thought aloud.

Then, a voice said,”Yeah. You finally figured it out.”

I glanced around and noticed a girl about 11 years old. I pinched myself to make sure it was real. It was.

“Tell me why I’m here, please. Is this some sort of a twisted joke? I’m not laughing.”
