“Really? Anyway, me and Jorja will go out hunting, and Marine should stay here nursing
you.” Claire said.
“Promise me that you will not act stupidly like me.”
“Promised.”
When Claire and Jorja came back, Sky was crying on the ground and Marine was nowhere to
be found.
“Sky? You okay? Where is Marine?” Claire asked in astonishment.
“Maybe she went out to get some fresh air.” Jorja said.
“Maybe. But why are you crying?” Claire tried to comfort Sky.
“I am going to go out and search for Marine.” Jorja said.
“So what happened?” Claire carefully asked Sky.
“Marine said that I am only a load, and asked me to leave here if I won’t help.”
“How could she say that?”
“She hates me.” Sky replied, also feeling frustrated.
“I think she is just feeling a lot of pressure now that we are out of food. She doesn’t have any
spirit, so she probably just said something to get some weight off her shoulders. Believe me, she
likes you a lot.”
“I know. We were best friends. But in the middle of our relationship, you came along, and I
hanged out with you more than her. Marine got jealous, and she started to treat me even more
nicely to get my attention.”
“I was actually feeing a lot of competition between me and herself.”
“Marine accused me of my different treatment for someone who is rich and someone who is
poor. But the problem is, I don’t treat people by judging their property! When one of you spent
your own money to buy me something, I couldn’t possibly turn my back to you. That’s why when
you spent your money for me, I gave more attention to you. In the same way, when Marine bought
me that expensive Christmas gift, I had to give her more attention, as a way of saying thank you.”
Sky said the truth. “She is totally wrong!!”
“I think it’s just a simple fact of misunderstanding. I am sure Jorja is also trying to comfort
Marine. Everything will be back to normal.” Claire tried to calm Sky.
“Here they come.” Claire announced.
Sky turned around to see two depressed faces stamping the floor.
“Sky, I didn’t think of you like that. I am really disappointed.” Jorja said annoyingly.
“What? I didn’t do anything wrong!” Sky protested.
“Marine told me everything. I thought you were a nice girl, but instead you were an ugly,
lazy, and cheating girl.”
“Jorja! I understand that you were trying to comfort Marine, but I think your attitude and
behavior is way too rude. Plus, I only think this issue is due to the amount of stress.” Claire said.
“Not her! She didn’t do anything!” Marine cried.
“Hey! I made all the fire which none of you could. Do you know how much strength it takes?
You won’t know, because you are a stupid girl!” Sky shouted.
“You don’t have the right to call me stupid when you yourself is even more stupid. Don’t you
know hunting in a desert is extremely hard?” Marine screamed.
“Enough!” shouted Claire. Everybody turned around to take a look at Claire. Usually, it was
quite unusual for Claire to shout so loudly.
