that his eyes were rolled backwards, and that his arms and face were cut by the broken glass.
“We need to get him out! Stela, you go to the other side and we’ll try to flip the jeep over. Quick!”
After much struggle, we were able to flip the jeep over, and open the driver’s door. Bolad’s
body hung lifelessly, with only the seatbelt keeping him from falling over.
I tapped on Bolad’s cheeks, shouted his name, and finally, he moved his head just a tiny bit.
We all breathed a sigh of relief. For a small fraction of a second, a thought crossed my mind that
he would die.
I felt a tap on my back. It was an old man. With his white beard, and the thousands of
wrinkles on his face, you could call him ancient.
“I’m a doctor. I can help you.” The old man said as he pushed me and Sara aside to head
towards Bolad. He opened his medical box and I could see that there were all kinds of injections,
bottles and tools.
“Hey! Do you know what you are doing?” Sara yelled as the old man took out a cotton pad
and a bottle of disinfecting alcohol.
“I’m a doctor. I can help you.” The old man said robotically. He then disinfected Bolad’s cuts
with alcohol.
Despite his creepy way of speaking, he genuinely seemed like a nice man. It was not long
before Bolad was able to get up to his feet, he was even more energetic than he was before. “Let’s
head to the valley! Don’t mind the jeep!” He said enthusiastically.
Soon we were trekking this amazing valley. At first we didn’t see the legendary ice sheets,
but it was not long before these huge, gigantic, thick ice sheets were present before us. They were
truly a unique sight to see. Just a ten some minutes ago, I felt the heat of the sun, but all I feel
and see now is the tingle of coldness. It is truly a wonder of nature.
A few minutes later, we were at the top of a peculiar peak that formed on the ice, resulting in
a slope on the other side. Climbing it was easy, as the jagged surfaces of the ice provide a surface
for our feet to step on. But here on the way down, the ice was incredibly smooth, almost as if
someone had purposefully grinded it to look that way.
“I guess we’ll have to slide down.” Sara suggested. True, even though it was dangerous, how
else could we reach the bottom?
Bolad went first, slow and steadily, and then Sara came skidding after. It was a hilarious sight
to see. I couldn’t stop laughing.
I braced myself on the edge, then let go. It was quite fun as I accelerated down so fast, better
than any waterslide I think. I fell and hit the ground hard. There must have been a large gap.
Suddenly I felt different, there were no ice sheets below me, and the sun shed its beam
towards my eye. All around me, I saw sand dunes.
“What on earth is going on? How did we get here?” Sara asked horrifiedly. Truth be told, I was
even more horrified than her, what just happened?
“It’s real...” Bolad mumbled. “What’s real?” I asked him.
“Legends said that the Yolyn Am was a magical place. It had the power to teleport people to
different places or even, different times. I always thought that it was a story to scare children...”
There was silence for quite some time because we couldn’t get our heads around what
had happened.
“There has to be a way out!” Sara said in despair.
“There had only been one survivor of this teleportation in history. Of course, no one believed
