When I touched the bow, nothing happened. I walked over and put my hand on the sword. It
suddenly burst with white light which blinded me for a few seconds. It happened again when Jake
and Christine touched the bow and the book respectively. The White Tiger said, “So now your
divisions are clear. Since you have the luck to meet me, I will teach Perseus the warrior skills he
needed, while Christine can go to the Azure Dragon and Jake go to the Vermillion Bird. I promise
that you will all be good fighters. May we save China.” With that, he blew a couple of hair onto
Christine and Jake, and then they are teleported to the other two gods.
We arrived to the cave where the White Tiger lived minutes later. He said to me, “A warrior has
to learn 3 kinds of gadgets – a sword, a spear, and a shield. These are the three tools that you will
use in a battle. Spears and shields are the two main gadgets that you use – spears are long ranged,
which give you a slight advantage when fighting with enemies. A shield is used for protecting you
– it grants you a huge advantage when it comes to defending against huge-strengthen enemies.
Sword is the last resort of a warrior, since it is very short ranged and it is easy to be counter-
attacked by your enemy. Moreover, swords are hard to wield as you may hurt yourself – don’t treat
this as a joke. Remember this – only use a sword when you are sure that you can’t win the enemy,
or you have nothing left besides the sword. Also, as a reminder, Yaksha is a powerful monster who
has the ability to kill us gods, and even to destroy the world. If we were to defeat him, it will take
all you sky-walkers’ powers together with the help of us gods. Now let’s start.”
Within one hour, I was already a master at the spear. The White Tiger said that it was enough
to barely have a fifteen minute fight with Yaksha, but if I was to fight him for more than twenty
minutes, I would be worse than dead. “What about with a shield?” I asked. “Ten minutes,” he
said. I gave him a speechless look. “If you don’t have a shield, you can have more aggressive
moves to keep him defending, and that can keep you alive for a little bit longer. Of course, when
you have the shield, your defense will be better, however Yaksha is too mighty for you to defend
singlehandedly. If you fight him, I suggest you to use just the spear, unless your friends are
behind you – they are long ranged and their attacking abilities are strong, you can use your shield
to defend while your friends are busy pounding him with powerful strikes. However, I haven’t
fight Yaksha in five centuries. I don’t know what he is capable of now and how huge his power is.
Just be careful. Now come, I will teach you how to defend effectively with the shield.”
After I have conquered the shield, The White Tiger suddenly tensed, and yelled to me, “Duck!!”
I ducked immediately, and felt a wave of heat on my back. I quickly crawled to where the White
Tiger was standing and turned back, seeing an army of fire-breathing beasts, and in front of me is
the largest one. “Maybe he is the leader,” I thought. The White Tiger suddenly talked to me, “Here
is the chance for practicing what you have learnt just now. Come on, grab the spear and shield. Let
us see what the sky-walker is capable of.” With that, I grabbed the spear and the shield, using all
the techniques the White Tiger taught me. Like magic, the beasts couldn’t hit me with their claws
and their fire balls were all point blank. For a moment, I felt that the spear was my right arm and
my shield was my left arm. After a while, I was holding the leader by its neck. I was surprised,
why didn’t the beasts protect their leader? I turned my head, expecting to see the army of beasts
glaring at me, but instead, all there was left were their footprints. They have disintegrated.
“Demons disintegrate when they die,” The White Tiger said, with a little feeling of impress in his
voice. “You are indeed a talented warrior, Perseus. Now keep the leader alive. I must ask it some
questions. Get some rest now; this is only a minor and easy battle. More is to come.” With that,
The White Tiger yanked the beast up with its mouth, and took it to a room for questioning.
