y master sat with his back towards me, swirling his *hossu through the air.
"Go to Macau, in the Pearl River Delta," he commanded. An image of a small
island appeared in the air. "Trouble is coming, and though the people are ready for it, it is a battle they
cannot win alone. Help them, and restore peace in Macau."
"Yes, master," I bowed.
"Good boy, Nezha, now go."
Again, he waved his hossu, disappearing in a shower of twinkling stars. I stood for a moment, in
awe, then took off due south on my Wheels of Wind and Fire.

Soon, a pretty little seaport town with quaint houses sat before me. However, the streets were
deserted, and most of the windows had been boarded up. Perhaps it was preparation for the battle about to
commence.
Unnerved, I scouted the streets, looking for the temporarily absent villagers. Finally, I came upon a
huge crowd of people surrounding a bronze statue of Guanyin Bodhisattva, the Divine Goddess of Mercy. I
went up to them. Suddenly, in a flurry of lotus petals, the statue came alive!
"Citizens of Macau," she said. "Your peaceful home is in danger. At this moment, the Dutch army,
led by Captain Kornelis Reyerszoon, are sailing across the sea to take over this holy land. You must counter
the Dutch forces and stop them. The Third Lotus Prince, Nezha," she pointed at me. "Will help you
organize your army. Stay strong and believe in yourselves!" with these parting words, she became, once
again, motionless.
The people turned to look at me. I could see a mixture of different races in the bewildered mob of
faces: Africans; Chinese; Portuguese. And most of these were either women, children or servants. So much
for the great army I had envisioned.
"People of Macau," I cleared my throat and yelled out to the crowd. "A moment of disturbance is
among us. The Dutch are sharpening the bloody hilts of their swords at this very moment." A stream of
panicked murmuring followed. "We need to fight back." I shouted. "This place belongs to you, and they
have no right to take it away, right?" the murmuring turned into an encouraging "yes". "Who is willing to
fight for your freedom and the freedom of this land?" By this time, most had been rallied by my speech and
were waving their arms determinedly in the air. "Now, who is ready to show those Dutch numbskulls what
we're made of!" Thunderous applause erupted from the crowd along with wild cheering. I smiled. This
might not be so bad after all.

I stood in the air with my Wheels of Wind and Fire whirring beneath my feet. In one hand was my
Fire-tipped Spear, in the other was my Universal Ring. Tied around my waist was my Red Armillary Sash
and behind me was an army of over a thousand men. Most of the army was made up of voluntary African
slaves, and a few were Portuguese soldiers.
