Happy Egg

o you know where the Pearl River Delta came from? Let me tell you a story about it.
Once upon a time, there were three kingdoms, including Happy kingdom, Mad kingdom
and Zap kingdom. People in Happy kingdom were full of imagination and loved to invent products too.
People in Mad kingdom were very hard-working and helpful while Zap kingdom was full of resources and
have less entertainment.
One day, Happa in Happy kingdom wanted to make another new and useful invention. This time, he
wanted to invent a ‘Happy Egg’. It can sing, run and cook itself. The Egg’s jump was its most marvellous
function that allowed it to jump to any kingdom and make people happy. Happa managed to find all the
materials to make it. However, there was one material left. He needed to get the ‘Water Diamond’. It was
buried in the deepest soil in the river. So, after a big sleep, Happa started his adventure. He wore a pair of
‘Sticky shoes’ to walk around on the surface of the water and looked for the ‘Water Diamond’. Six hours
later, he still could not find ‘water diamond’. Then he realised he got lost because he forgot to bring the
map. He was afraid that he could not see his family again, so he cried loudly and sadly.
At midnight, Madda from Mad kingdom sailed his little boat out of the river to catch some fish to
prepare for breakfast next morning. Suddenly, he heard someone was sobbing. He followed the direction of
the sound to see if he could help. After a while, he found a boy with a pair of huge and strange shoes.
“Why are you crying?” asked Madda. Happa unhappily replied, “Because I forgot to bring a map so now
I am lost!” Madda invited him passionately, “Would you mind riding with me? I will sail you back to your
home.” Happa felt pleased and thanked Madda gratefully. Then, he quickly jumped onto the boat but
Happa forgot to take away his pair of big ‘Sticky shoes’. “Oh, we are in trouble!” shouted Madda. When
Madda wanted to sail the boat, the little boat began to sink. Fortunately, they learnt how to swim in their
primary schools so they swam together with their biggest effort.
Three hours later, they saw the shore. Then they walked on the land slowly. They lay on a piece of
grassland. They were very hungry and cold. Happa took a ‘Hap-gum’ from his wet packet. “It is very small
but can make us full and warm,” he shared with Madda. After that, Happa spotted at an old road sign -
‘Zap kingdom’. “What kingdom is it?” Happa asked. “I don’t know,” answered Madda. Suddenly, Madda
noticed that many pairs of eyes were looking at them and he quietly told Happa. They wanted to run but
they couldn’t. They were still very tired and hungry. So they shouted bravely and loudly. “Who are you?”
They repeated many times. “Come out! We will not hurt you!” Finally, two people came out from behind
the bushes. They introduced themselves, “We are the citizen of Zap kingdom. My name is Zappany.”
greeted the girl with red hair. “My name is Zapper. Why are you here?” said the boy with brown hair.
“Our boat sank and we just landed,” replied Madda. At that moment, they heard a sound ‘Bong……’ They
listened carefully and noticed that the sound was come from their stomach! Zappany and Zapper invited
them to a big feast. At the feast, they were very glad and ate a lot of food and drink. All of them chatted
about what they did and saw in their own kingdoms. Zappany told Madda and Happa that there were fewer
entertainments in Zap kingdom although there are many resources in our kingdom. Zapper agreed that we
always found ways to make people happier.
So, Happa began to talk about the idea of ‘Happy Egg’. Zappany and Zapper were very interested.
Happa said, “I want to find a ‘Water Diamond’ to make the egg.” “Ha! Water Diamond,” shouted
Zappany. “There are many in the Pearl River.” All of them were very interested and exchanged their ideas.
They decided to make the “Happy Egg” together. Madda and Happa wanted to make more fun for Zap
kingdom by using the ‘Happy Egg’. They all knew that the people in Mad Kingdom were hardworking and
skilful. So they asked them to produce ‘Happy Egg’.
