My Adventure in the Pearl River Delta

Missed the friends I made in my last trip to Gobi Desert. Hence, I invited Man Man, the Princess of
Mongolia and Mary the fairy for a new adventure with me to the Pearl River Delta.
We flew to the Pearl River Delta by Mary the fairy’s flying carpet. We arrived in a forest and
explored around. Suddenly, Man Man and I fell into a swamp. We were frightened.
A man came out to rescue us. His name was Delta. He was dressed in black suits. He brought us outside
the forest. We became good friends. He told us a secret. He was an alien from Mars. His mission was to
develop the Pearl River Delta. We were astonished.
Princess Man Man and I were as hungry as wolves, so Delta brought us to Canton Tower in
Guangzhou by flying there in seconds. I thought it was amazing. There was a transparent lift. Other people
could not see it. Delta led us to the 47,000th floor which was the secret base of aliens. He took us to the
canteen. Delta shared his glowing spaghetti, flaming rice, shimmering noodles and purple coffee. I found
them delicious, but Princess Man Man wanted to faint.
I was shocked to see Le Petit Prince, his friend fox, Stitch, Doraemon, ET ,Agent J and Agent K eating
in the canteen. They were all aliens. Delta guided us to the Twist Revolving Restaurant on the 105th floor
for a lunch buffet. Princess Man Man was extremely happy. We got a panoramic city view of Guangzhou.
Delta worked as an urban planner in the Chinese government to cover his true identity as alien. He was
an agent from Mars. He showed us his designs of the Pearl River Delta in these 2,000 years. He took us to
the four famous mountains in Guangdong – Mount Danxia, Mount Xiqiao, Mount Luofu and Mount
Dinghu. The red clastic rocks and cliffs in Danxia were extraordinary.
Man Man loved Mount Luofu which was a 40-50 million years old dormant volcano. We were
attracted by the waterfalls, clean water, fresh air, birds, blooming flowers, verdant plants and subtropical
fruits. I liked the camellia.
We visited the Window of the World in Shenzhen, the Peak and the Victoria Harbour in Hong Kong,
the ruins of St Paul’s College in Macau and the hot spring in Zhuhai. We relaxed and had fun in the hot
spring.
We decided to go for a boat trip in West Lake, Huizhou. It was well-known for its scenery. I thought
of the famous poet, Su Dongpo. I took my time machine and we all flew back to Huizhou in 1094. It was
Northern Sung Dynasty at that time. We found Mr Su by the lake writing poems. He was friendly, patriotic
and talented. He served us some food and wine. We had baked chicken in salt and stuffed bean curd. I
cooked him some braised pork belly and he said it was delicious. He named it “Dongpo pork”. We had
fantastic moments together and he shared his poems with us. We bid farewell to Mr Su and flew back to
2015.
In the evening, we had a night cruise along the Pearl River. The riverside scenery was charming. Then,
we had traditional shacks on street corners and in alleys in Guangzhou. We had shared rice noodles, wonton
noodles, shrimp dumplings and Sampan Porridge. Mary the fairy was excited and ate a lot of food.
We heard people talking about the tale of a man sprinkling gold powder made the soil fertile and would
also bring prosperity to the region. We asked Delta about the tale, but he gave us a big smile. He took out a
jar of sparkling powder from his pocket. We screamed. Delta was the one who did it. He gave us all some
gold powder and asked us to sprinkle all over the Delta. His tale became widespread and people named the
region the Pearl River Delta.
After watching the sunrise together, we said goodbye to each other. Delta gave us each an alien mobile
phone. We had memorable time in our adventure in the Pearl River Delta
