t was a sunny Saturday and detective Carrot Hare decided to take a trip around the Pearl River Delta
with his pet rabbit Carrot Jr.
Carrot was smart but he could be careless and even absent-minded at
times. When he started to pack, he found that he only had a small luggage, a big one and a backpack but
he had lots of things to bring: a pair of socks, a book to read, Carrot Jr.’s cage and food, a notebook to write
down clues in case something happened, a pair of shoes, his clothing and underwear, a toothbrush and a bottle
of toothpaste.
His small luggage could only hold the pair of socks, the pair of shoes, the notebook and the
book.
Then he crammed Carrot Jr.’s food, his underwear and the tools he needed for brushing his teeth
inside his backpack.
Carrot Jr.’s cage was just right for the big luggage but Carrot’s clothing was unpacked so
he stacked them in Carrot Jr.’s cage.
How silly it was!
Carrot also loved eating.
Before he left Hong Kong to Guangzhou by the Intercity Through Train,
he had to go get some mini egg puffs.
The trip on the train took almost two hours. When he arrived, he
could not wait to go to an old Cantonese restaurant and order the famous rabbit-shaped dumplings.
Carrot
Jr. could not dare to watch Carrot eat them!
Two days later, they took the ferry to Macau.
Carrot found a thief trying to steal so he crept to the
thief ’s back and caught him.
Then he called the police.
Only seconds later, a policeman came.
He arrested
the thief and told Carrot that he was on a trip because someone was killed in Macau. When they arrived,
they went to a house.
Inside was a dead man, killed by a gun.
Carrot found a photo and a pen next to the
body.
He noticed that the photo had something written on it.
It read “Blue Street”, so he and the policeman
rushed there but it did not look like what the photo showed.
He read the photo again and he knew he made
a mistake.
They were at “Blue Road”! When they finally arrived at Blue Street, Carrot Jr. found a pencil case
and another photo under a tree.
The photo and the pen inside the pencil case were the same as the ones that
they found in the house, so Carrot thought the man who dropped these things under the tree must be the
murderer.
Suddenly, he spotted a trail of footprints.
The footprints led Carrot, Carrot Jr. and the policeman
to a bush.
Behind the bush, they found the murderer.
After the murderer was arrested, the policeman asked
Carrot if he could stay for the night.
Carrot said no because he missed home.
Finally, he and Carrot Jr. took
the ferry home.
Of course, before that, he had to try some Portuguese egg tarts!
