“Who’s eggs are these? There are not like eggs we have nowadays.” questioned Tracy.
“I don’t know. Maybe we went back to dinosaur period?!” said Jake, who was starting to
get worried.
“Cool… We are going to be famous! We are the first people to discover dinosaur eggs here. We
will go on TV shows, people will know us. We may earn a lot of money too…” said Tracy as she
was imagining what life would be like later on.
Jake wasn’t fond of the idea and he suggested they leave. Although Tracy wasn’t so happy
about his idea, she still needed to listen to him.
Not long after they left where the eggs were, they saw a huge animal! It had four thin legs and
looked like a mammal. Somehow like a deer but a lot more bigger. Jake gulped and Tracy shivered.
“Let’s leave quickly before it spots us!” exclaimed Jake in a soft voice.
Then they ran.
However, they weren’t that lucky. The beast spotted them! It was following the kids.
Tracy felt uncomfortable and as she turned back, she screamed, “Ah! Dinosaur!!!”
They both realized they were in big trouble, and ran as fast as a leopard. They had never tried
to run that fast before.
Suddenly, Tracy tripped on a stone and fell down. She cried, “Ouch! Help!”
Without thinking, Jake quickly pulled her up. He was just in time, or else Tracy would have
been smashed by the beast. He held Tracy as they ran. Jake was wondering why was the land
bigger than usual. It seemed endless.
“Press the button, Jake!” said Tracy breathlessly. She had almost lost her breath.
Jake immediately pressed the button once. In a blink of an eye, they felt dizzy and closed
their eyes.
The world was swirling. Then, everything became normal.
The footsteps behind were fading and they saw an oasis. The first thing they did was to hide.
After recovering, Jake looked out.
There wasn’t any dinosaur, just a black-tailed gazelle!
“I know what this means!” said Jake, who’s face lit up. “We didn’t go back in time!”
“Huh? What do you mean?” interrupted Tracy.
Jake answered, “This watch-like machine is actually a size-changing machine! I pressed it long
and we turned small. After that, I pressed once again and we turned back into our normal size.”
“Also, we changed our size together because we held on to each other!” added Tracy and she
smiled, just like her brother.
“However…” said Jake, “I am still wondering why was the desert bigger than before.”
“Well, that’s easy. Trees are being chopped which make the desert land larger. I learnt this
at school.”
“Yeah, I guess you’re right,” he giggled.
Tracy asked people about the cave and it turned out that it was once a little laboratory. A man
who wasn’t a successful scientist made little inventions and studied alien language there.
Also, those weren’t dinosaur eggs. They were eagle’s eggs instead.
At last, the kids went home safely with their size-changing watch.
They came back to the Gobi a few months later.
“Don’t you feel tired planting all these trees?”
