ll you could see was sand, everywhere. It was gold in color, so smooth that it would
slide off between your fingers. It was just a marvelous sight.
“Look at this!” said Tracy, pointing to the picture in a book. She was full of
excitement, “This looks interesting.”
“This is,” replied her brother, Jake, “the Gobi Desert.”
“Don’t you think this place is beautiful?” asked Tracy. It seemed to Jake that she liked it a lot.
So he asked, “Tracy, did you do well in the exam?”
“Of course.”
“Then, do you want a gift? Do you want me to bring you to the Gobi Desert?”
“Hurray! Thank you so much brother, you understand me so well,” said Tracy with a sweet
smile and she hugged Jake. “Oh dear!” he sighed, “Maybe people will think I’m your boy-friend!”
“No way!” said Tracy and they both laughed happily.
The next week, they went to the Gobi Desert. “Gee, the temperature here is special,” thought Jake.
“Look up! Jake!” exclaimed Tracy. “It’s an… Eagle!” It was a golden eagle, Jake read about it
in a book about the Gobi desert. They saw many special animals in the desert like snow leopards,
camels and brown bears. Tracy was overjoyed as an animal lover.
They went to explore the desert. “Wow, deserts are beautiful!” thought Tracy.
There was one thing bothering Jake. “Is the desert becoming bigger gradually?” he wondered.
At night, the temperature changed rapidly. Tracy thought it was odd. “What kind of weather
is this?” she thought. Soon, weak Jake started coughing and said he felt sick. Tracy suggested that
they should go find a shelter and they went into the nearest cave. Tracy had a little check to make
sure the cave was save enough. She was worried about Jake. She hugged him to make him feel
warmer. The girl soon felt tired too and she fell asleep next to her poor sick brother.
The next morning, Tracy woke up early. She decided to go and explore the cave. The cave looked
extra-ordinary. It wasn’t like a cave. It was well built and there were strange markings on the wall.
The horrid idea of aliens stroked her mind. As Tracy walked by, something caught her eyes. It was a
“watch-like” machine! “Wow!” she exclaimed. She was very curious so she picked it up and brought
it back to Jake. “Jake, how are you feeling?” asked Tracy as she saw Jake was awake.
“I’m feeling alright!” replied Jake, “What is that watch in your hand?” he asked.
“I don’t know too! But at least it’s not a normal watch,” said Tracy.
“Let me see,” said Jake. He took over the “watch-like” machine and pressed on the big button
for long.
Immediately, they felt dizzy. Both of them closed their eyes, hands held together.
Then, everything went still.
“I think we went back in time,” mumbled Jake.
“Let’s go out from this cave and see!” suggested Tracy.
“But we must be very careful,” added Jake.
They walked out of the dark. They explored the new world. Everything was large in size. They
had never seen things like that before. It was just like they went back-in-time. “This must be a
time machine,” they thought. Then, something caught their eyes. They were huge eggs!
