Consequently, they hungered to go home. ‘Just 10 days.’ They thought. After 10 days they can
go back home and as soon as they got a supply of daily essentials, they finally agreed to finish
the mission.
A pale yellow sun laid low in the sky. Eric crouched down, took a look at the bleak desert,
‘Why should I be stuck here! Completing a task a tiny little fairy gave me! Shouldn’t she listen to
me? No one ever challenged me like this before! Ugh!’ \
However, this obstinate old man had to listen to the fairy. He then helplessly looked at the
seedling and murmured ‘You little plant, little little plant, please be strong!’
In the other side, Luke was roaming through the desert. His mind still remained in the world
of medical theories, the stresses had never left him. Suddenly, one of the nomads noticed him and
came near.
‘Hi, boy! I’m Ed. Why are you here?’ ‘A fairy makes me do this! Otherwise, I can’t go home! I
got to live 10 days with you guys!’
Ed was enthusiastic which then invited Luke to their home though he didn’t really understood
what Luke had said. Next, Ed introduced the nomadic customs and living to Luke.
‘What? You mean you don’t have a long-lasting home? What an unsteady life! But simple
enough, and you guys seem happy!’ ‘Yup, that’s right! Happiness! That’s all!’ Ed said with laughter.
Yet, Luke felt strange about it, he had forgotten how it sounded.
While Luke and Ed were chatting, the warmth of the rays had petered out as the moonless
sky approached. Oscar had been strolling around the heap of high-quality stuffs which were
unfamiliar to him. He wondered how to build up a modern world with these ‘materials’.
Not long after that, the fairy gave him a coat, some bread and a bottle of water. That warmth
had probably been in distance with Oscar in a long period. His sight then blemished as tears ran
down his cold cheek. However, he is not the kind of person who relies on others. He fights for his
own life.
After the meal, he decided to try using those electronic devices. He used to be very smart,
yet, the cleverness wasn’t all gone, he soon found out the usages and functions of each product.
Interests grew in him.
That night, the three of them got their coats on, ate their supper and slept. None of them slept
well, their eyelids drooped and closed, fluttered and closed again. After all, the sun rose.
In the next few days, Eric got restless with the weak plant. He didn’t know how and what to
do with it. He never tried to find out the problem. Instead, just murmuring, grumbling, and so
on. The fairy saw through him which it flied there and said ‘Why don’t you ask the ants?’ and
disappeared in the next second. Eric got annoyed, thinking why should I listen to an ant? But
just that moment… ‘ Water! All it needs is WATER!’ ‘WHAT! An ant really does talk? Water, water,
water. I just get 2 bottles a day and now I have to save up some for this seedling? NO WAY!’ The
stubborn man wouldn’t listen after all.
Luke got along with Ed and penetrated more about the nomadic life. The nomad lives with
their livestock and moves from pasture to pasture. ‘Do what you want! Also, everyone needs a
time to rest!’ That’s what Ed said. He is a funny guy who jokes often, very soon, Luke dug out his
laughter that had been buried for a long time!
As time went by, Oscar found out more about the devices. He loved them so much and was
fascinated of them. He organized and placed stuffs in the desert and soon gained happiness from
all of those.
