Fiction: Group 2
So, Maxy walked out of the hotel and looked around. He looked for a clear, empty, space.
He
found it alright, and he started digging ever so eagerly. Some people were just staring straight at him,
thinking that he was bonkers.
Maxy tumbled down a black, dusty, staircase. He opened a dark, black, door. Inside there was a
cave with treasures. Most of all, there was the biggest pearl in the world. The pearl was shiny, creamy white,
and oval shaped. With gold embroidered around it. It was about the size of a really gigantic watermelon. He
was so excited, “I am going to be the richest person in the world!”
Maxy climbed out of the cave as quick as he could and raced up the stairs. He rushed back to the
Hyatt Hotel to find out how much pearls cost.
Maxy asked the hotel manager, “Do you know where you can buy pearls?”
The hotel manager answered, “Why, you can buy them at a pearl shop. A gigantic pearl costs one
million dollars.”
Maxy was about to go to the cave again when he thought, “I have no friends on this island. I
should make a friend to help me.” That left Maxy looking for friends. The man looked in a house, and
luckily he found his long lost best friend, Jamie. Maxy then told his friend, “I got great news for you! I
found the Pearl Cave Delta!”
“What!?” screamed Jamie, “Nobody has found it before! For years and years the entire world has
been searching for it!”
Maxy grabbed Jamie’s hand, sprinted out the door and ran to Hyatt. Then the two friends ran two
blocks to the cave. Maxy led Jamie down the stairs.
Jamie gasped, “WOW!”
“Now, we should go home. I will contact a news reporter and my friends back home to come.”
said Maxy, walking with Jamie. “Come on Jamie, hop on the boat.”
Maxy and Jamie hopped on the motor boat. When they arrived home, Maxy and Jamie contacted
their friends and news reporters. They were amazed by the exciting news.
After a day Maxy said to Jamie, “We should contact the government and president!” The
government and president were also very surprised. They launched a beautiful cruise for everybody to go
travel to the Ozly River Island. When the cruise arrived, Maxy showed them the Pearl and all the treasures
in the cave.
They were so amazed that the government and president agreed to grant him one wish.
Maxy said, “I would like this island to be named Pearl River Delta.”
The president agreed, “Of course! It is a fantastic name, and will make our country famous for
discovering the largest shiny pearl in the world. We will be known as the richest land in the world. Three
cheers for Maxy!”
Everyone shouted at the top of their lungs, “HIP HIP HURRAY! HIP HIP HURRAY! Maxy
the hero! HIP HIP HURRAY!”
Maxy was very delighted. He was jumping up and down crazily. Now, everybody on the island
joined in, and they continued partying for hours.
And that is how the Pearl River Delta got its name.
