Chapter 1 - Fire on the Ocean
oom, crash! Our boats are on fire.
“Soldier, go up to starboard and get some men to help you fill up the buckets with water” shouted
the Captain.
Boom, bang, crash! We had been hit on portside.
A second later the Captain shouted “Prepare for battle”.
All the other buccaneers rushed below deck to grab their swords and chainmail chest plates. As soon as I
had popped my head out of the hatch, the enemy’s ship had glided past and the pirates jumped aboard.
Chapter 2 – The Battle
Suddenly we were surrounded and more pirates had jumped aboard. As soon as a gunshot, a blaze of fire
shot up in my face. Meanwhile, I was battling with the first mate. Clash, clang went our swords. Speedily
he flung my sword out of my hand and it fell to the ground.
Chapter 3 – The Escape
As I fell to the ground, he placed the blade against my neck.
“Please let me go” I begged.
“Fine, but I will take you to my ship and bind you to the mast” answered the first mate.
When he bound me to the mast, I had a trick up my sleeve. I had a dagger stored in my sleeve for
emergencies like this one. I shook my arm so that the dagger fell into my other hand. I began to cut myself
free, when suddenly the first mate came up to me.
“What are you doing?” he shouted.
“I’m not doing anything” I replied. It was a very close call. I kept cutting myself free and as quick as
magic, the roped unwound and I flung myself back across onto my ship.
Chapter 4 – What That Was All About
So let me explain who I am. I am Lun Sun Mao. I am on a ship from China taking goods to Hong Kong,
via the Pearl River Delta. The pirates of Captain Li Cheng Wei are out to destroy all of our boats. I am
the third mate.
Chapter 5 – Captured
It was six days since our encounter with the pirates. It was New Year’s Eve so we were celebrating. We
drank lots of rum and we were all very drowsy. Suddenly out of nowhere came the pirates. We were
caught off guard. A pirate rushed towards me and I was captured.
Chapter 6 – Where They Took Me
The pirates took me to a cave near Sai Kung. It was a very long journey. There were three caves: one was
large and the other smaller ones were interconnected. When they took me into the larger cave, it had a
dark, looming feel. They brought me to the left and put me in a large wooden treasure chest that was
rotting.
Chapter 7 – What Happened Back On-board
