The Pearl River Delta

he Pearl River Delta is a wonderful river. It has a really nice breeze and we have to move to
Hong Kong!” said the baker to his son and his daughter.“But, father, why do we have to move?
I like Beijing very much” said Belle the baker’s daughter. “Your father is right.We’ve stayed in
Beijing forever. The air here is very polluted. Now it’s time to give Hong Kong a try” said Marie, their
mother.
“Ok now the plane is coming and it’s time to leave.We have to take a plane if we want to get there faster”
said Belle’s younger brother, Michael. “Good thinking, Michael” said the baker. “We will reach faster if we
took a plane to Hong Kong. They took a taxi to the airport with whatever little belonging they had with
them.
Marie hugged Belle and Michael. She is so happy to get away from the pollution at last. She is also happy that
her kids will be breathing in better air soon.They board the plane as fast as they can.
The plane took off but halfway through the flight, a loud crash sound came out of the front of the plane. “Oh
no” cried Marie as she ran to the cockpit. “Are we ok?” she asked the pilot. “Yeah, we are fine”, said the pilot
sounding tired.
There’s a little problem with the left engine but we will be able to fly safely with only the right engine.
“Don’t worry, just put on your seat belts and relax, we will reach Hong Kong soon”.
“So let’s get on with it, ” yells the baker. Soon everyone put on their seat belts and said a little prayer. The
plane was moving so violently that everyone on the plane was getting sick. They had to throw up into the
sick bag. Everyone sat on their seats and was extremely scared.
Marie said,“Maybe we should have stayed in Beijing after all”. Belle and Michael started to cry.
Suddenly, there was another ‘bang’ and the airplane started to fly down. Then the pilot told us over the
microphone that there is going to be an emergency landing into the Pearl River Delta.
“Everyone brace yourselves”, hollered the baker out loud so everyone could hear.
Finally, they landed with a crash but safely into the Pearl River Delta!
