t was a pleasant sunny morning. I finished my daily exercise in the park and went back home for a hot
bath. After I’ve bathed, I went into my room. “DING DONG!” The postman has come. A letter was
addressed to me. He handed me a sealed brown envelope. I thanked him for it and went back into my
room.
I wondered what was inside and who had sent this to me, since there was no address anywhere from
the sender. I opened it with utmost care, and peered into the envelope. A boarding pass to Zhu Jiang sat
quietly inside. I quickly told my parents about this. We decided not to do anything about it yet. During the
next two days, we received two similar envelopes with the same boarding passes to the same destination. I
was thrilled to find the address of the sender written on a separate sheet of paper in the third letter. The
address was of a representative of the Zhu Jiang Government! It was also noted that we needed to be at the
airport before 9 o’clock in the morning. My parents were very excited as they read the letter and agreed to
pack right away.
We arrived at the airport at 8: 45 the next morning. According to the instructions given by the
letter, we went to Gate 38. There, a representative of the Government greeted us warmly and we boarded
the plane together. We arrived at the Zhu Jiang Airport in an hour and a half’s worth of time. We were led
onto a boat and sailed to a beautiful and attractive artificial island in the middle of the Pearl River Delta. I
almost hyperventilated with excitement as I saw a big water park with huge waterslides of swirling colors.
“In order to thank you for donating a large amount of money on building this wonderful theme
park, Mr. Wong, you and your family may enjoy this theme park for two days and we will arrange rooms
for you and your family.” The manager of the water park said as we strolled up to the front entrance.
After exhausting ourselves in the park, we checked out our room. “I don’t believe that the Pearl
River Delta can develop so fast!” I exclaimed.
“Yes, that was unbelievable. Should we go to the town centre of this island and have a look
around?” Mum asked.
“Sure! We could buy some souvenirs too!” Dad replied.
Dad rented a car from the clubhouse of the water park and set off to the town centre. Of course, we
stopped at the sushi market. Sushi is one of my favourite food. The fish which were made into sashimi were
not endangered species so as to keep endangered animals safe from harm and prevent their extinction. I
appreciate how they protect these rare animals.
We learned that there is also an undersea train connecting Hong Kong, Macau and Zhu Jiang. We
can admire sea animals from the train and scuba-dive in some specific areas. Dad drove us back to the hotel
afterwards. Then we piled the souvenirs we bought in the town centre, including key rings and t-shirts,
into our bags.
Time flew by in hours of fun and it was soon time for us to go. My parents and I were accompanied
to the passage to Hong Kong in a clubhouse car. It was a new and particularly interesting experience to view
underwater creatures from a train. This passage shortened the time from Hong Kong to Zhu Jiang and
Macau. Now my Dad will never be late for work as he can go back and forth from home to Zhu Jiang
within one hour! We wrote a letter to thank the government and the water park for the wonderful trip. It
was a memorable trip.
At last, we arrived home. Although the service in the hotel is brilliant, I decided that I liked home
more. I will not forget this trip, not ever.
