and I know this isn’t a good sign. I stop dancing and dust myself off. How could I have been such a fool? I
can’t dance. How did I even think I could?
“Thank you, you may leave now.” concludes the assistant producer.
As I exit the stage, I feel like a rejected fool. I hear the producer talking about how the pianist broke his
thumb and won’t be able to play in the orchestra for the show.
I
can play the piano.” I think aloud. I run back up onstage and the director has a smirk on his face.
I run to the piano on the side of the stage. It’s pretty much the same one I have at home. I begin to play a
Mozart Sonata and the producers rise from their seats. When I finish, they applaud me and the director says,
“Thank you. You will be considered.”
I proudly exit the theatre and, to my surprise, see my aunt standing there, blocking the door. She hugs me.
“You played so well! I’m so proud of you! Why didn’t you tell me? First I got a call from school and then I
checked your computer - I was just so worried! Maybe I’ve been too hard on you.”
“I love you, too.” I reply.
I have wanted to perform all my life and piano might just cut it. Today I have realised that you always have
to follow your dreams, and those who love you, who
truly
love you, will be there for you.
