free from it. I’ve experienced what we have to live in- dirt and stinky old rubbish! Listen, the Pearl River
Delta used to be pretty, water sparkling under the sunshine, and now it’s like a dirty garbage salad, a rubbish
dump. This is their home, you know…’ Lindy paused, and then she looked at the truck driver’s funny stare.
She asked, ‘You already know it?’
‘Yes. I learnt my lesson when I saw your fin and tail caught in a net. I found out what was happening to the
animals here.’ The truck driver said, guiltily. ‘ You know what… I was always the one who told the other
truck drivers to dump rubbish here… now I’m happy that I saved you.’
The truck driver grinned, then looked at the melted chocolate like water, then said, ‘the others! They won’t
know!’
‘Spread the word!’ Lindy ran to the dump truck. When both of them were safe and sound in the dump
truck, and the driver drove off.
From then on, the truck driver and Lindy were the guardians of the Pearl River Delta and made sure that
no one threw rubbish into the amazing river! Three of their friends were inspired and admired their action
and helped them guard the river.
Many years later they turned into stones. You still can see the five big stones guarding the river today.
” Izzy
finished.
“See Joe? Do you want the creatures that live in the Pearl River Delta to feel like the dolphin in the sea?”
“No.” Joe answered.
“Then why did you…”
“Ok, Matthew.” Joe interrupted. “I won’t do it anymore because it kills creatures in the water of the Pearl
River Delta. We want them to live a happy life. Right? But the Pearl River Delta already had a lot of
rubbish in it. What do we do?”
“Pick out some rubbish and don’t throw anymore in.” Izzy replied.
While they were picking up some rubbish, they saw a little girl throwing rubbish into the Pearl River Delta.
“Stop!” They warned her. The girl looked at them, and went to warn her friends not to throw rubbish into
the Pearl River Delta. The warning spread across the entire country, and once more, the Pearl River Delta
was nice and clean again.
