them from farming and shouldn’t kill the monsters. Nevertheless, somebody said the monsters had killed
many people, so the king should kill them.
The monsters said,” Sorry, my king. Please don’t kill us! We promise that we won’t hurt any people again.
If we do again, you can kill us whenever you want! Please don’t kill us now, my king!”
The king decided to let them go.
The monsters decided to do something for apology. They found a lot of pearls in the river! They gave them
to the king. The king gave the pearls to the people who had broken families. People used the pearls to
rebuild their houses. They started forgiving the monsters’ bad things. Several years later, they wanted to give
a new name to the river. That’s why this river and the delta were called Pearl River and Pearl River Delta.
